Eddie's POV:
After leaving school, Nora and I went for a drive. I never told her where, but she looked like she didn't care as long as she was with me. The sound of the radio softly playing in the car isn't as enjoyable when Nora doesn't sing. I prefer listening to her voice because it's the most melodic sound in the world. Yet I know that Nora is still in that dark place, and I hope I can get her out of it soon because I need to see her smile. It's my way of oxygen, and I needed it. While driving, I watch Nora rub her thumb across my hand, and I sigh, "Do you want to talk about it, baby?" I ask, and Nora shakes her head, "I-I just want today to be over, Eddie," She confesses in her quivering voice, "I just want it to be over." She repeats while crying into her sleeve. I bring her hand to my lips, "I know, baby. I know." I whisper after I kiss the top of her hand. I feel Nora rest her head on my shoulder, and my heart begins to break as I hear crying into her sleeve. Today has gone to shit, but I hope I can turn it around for her.
It's not long until we pull up to a quaint spot, and Nora looks at me, confused, "Eddie, what are we doing here?" She asks, and I kiss her cheek before looking at her with a smile, "Just trust me, Princess." I whisper before getting out. While I walk around the front of the car, I see Nora checking her face in the rearview mirror, and I shake my head as I open the door, "You still look beautiful, Princess. Then again, you're always beautiful to me." I admit as I help her, and she blushes, "Thank you, sweetheart." She giggles before kissing my cheek, "Y-You're w-welcome, P-Princess." I choke out as I close her door. Even after a year, Nora still makes me trip over my tongue, which turns me into a bumbling idiot. Of course, Nora laughs, but all that matters to me because her laugh is my favorite sound.
While I reach into the car to grab Nora's bag, Nora looks around us to see nothing but woods, then looks at me as I adjust the strap on my shoulder, "Eddie, what are we doing here?" She asks again while placing her hands on her hips, to which I laugh before taking her hand, "Just trust me, Princess." I repeat as I lead us away from her car. While walking through the woods, Nora holds onto me as I take her, in my opinion, to one of the most serene spots in Hawkins. I smile as I watch her stumble before picking her up and carrying her on my back, "Is that better, my love?" I ask, and Nora nods, "Yes, thank you, sweetheart." She giggles while resting her right hand on my heart. While I continue walking, the song that has been on my mind for the past year starts playing in my head, and I can't help but hum along to it. I feel Nora rest her head on my shoulder as she runs her delicate fingers through my hair, but I don't see the smile she has as she listens to me. Nora lightly giggles, "Now, I see what you mean, babe." She says, and I stop humming and look at her, "What's that, Princess?" I ask, wondering what Nora means, which makes her laugh again, "I said that I see what you mean about how love listening to me hum or even sing a song. It's peaceful." She admits while still playing with my hair.
I blush as I look away from her emerald eyes, "I'm not as wonderful as you, Princess." I admit, and Nora scoffs, "Bullshit. I know you will be amazing when that song of yours is complete," She reassures before turning my head, "And you better be ready to hear me sing it every day once I hear it." She adds with a wink. Suddenly my face turns scarlet, and I gulp because not only is the song meant for her, but hearing Nora sing it is why I'm struggling with it. I want it to be perfect because Nora deserves it. I blink and clear my throat as I try to regain my voice, "O-Of course, Princess." I choke out, which makes Nora laugh, "Honey, are you okay?" She asks, and I nod, "I'm fine, beautiful. Promise." I whisper before kissing her. After breaking away from our kiss, Nora rests her head on my shoulder again, "Thank you, baby." She smiles, and I kiss her hand, "My pleasure, Princess," I reply while adjusting her body on my back and continuing walking, "Hang on tight. We're almost there." I inform her, and Nora giggles, "Of course, sir, Knight." She answers.
