Maria and her family were on vacation and as snow fell heavily around them Maria and her family sat inside by the fire with cocoa in their cold hands. Maria's brothers, Lolo and Franco, were shivering from the hours in the snow. Maria's parents sat with a solemn expression on their faces on a large, white couch. "Chicos" said Maria's papa tentatively. "Tenemos algo que decirles." Mama continued. Maria's eyebrows knit together in worry. "Nos mudamos en 2 semanas" Mama finally said after a long pause. Maria's brothers stared at their mama in shock, but Maria burst into tears. She couldn't believe they were moving and in just 2 weeks! "¿A donde?" Maria whispered through nearly silent sobs. "California" Her papa responded quietly as Maria slowly got up, a hollow expression on her face.
