I walked into the room and realized none of the girls I had met was in band with me. I sat down at the edge and took out my sheet music, flute, and tuner. As I began to to tune a girl holding a flute walked up to me and said "Hi, I'm Caroline. What's your name?" "Maria" I replied tentatively. "I guess we both play the flute." She murmured with a quiet giggle after. "Yes?" I said back not sure if she was speaking to herself. "Anyways what period do you have lunch?" She asked me. "8th" I replied. "Cool same!" She whisper-shouted. Just then a girl I recognized from ballet walked in next to another girl. They were chatting animately, both holding flute cases. "Hi" said the taller one from ballet. "I'm Zoe and this is Kimmy" she continued. "Hello I'm Maria and this is Caroline" I responded for the two of us. Just then two more girls holding flute cases walked up introducing themselves as Emma and Lisa. After they introduced themselves they pointed to a guy with sheet music in one hand and a flute in the other. "That's Sammy, he also plays flute. That's the last of us though" Emma says. "Yeah guess it's just seven this year" continues Lisa. "If any of you have 8th period lunch you're welcome to join us" Emma adds. Sammy walks over. "I heard my name ; I have appeared" All the girls roll their eyes as they finish tuning their precious flutes. They went through a lot of songs with plenty of commentary for the flute section.
