Katrina’s POV
“Well, well, well.” Ms Weems’ voice boomed in the hall. “What have we here?” She said, walking towards us. Me and Wednesday were about halfway up the stairs and Ms Weems was at the top. “This reminds me of something from last year…Oh, right. I’m assuming Wednesday dragged you into another one of her investigations?” Weems and Wednesday looked at me.
I shook my head. “Uhm, no?” Ms Weems looked shocked. “You started this?" I nodded my head at her question. Ms Weems was stunned. “Still, you are exiting the campus after hours. Full week suspension. No leaving your dorm room unless its an emergency, and ONLY then.” She looked over to Wednesday. “You too, Miss Addams.” She said, smirking slightly.
We continued walking up the stairs as Weems escorted us to our dorm room. “When do I get a bed?” I asked, as we approached the door. Wednesday opened it and continued in. “The floor isn’t the best pillow at night, and the closest thing I have to a blanket is overlayering over-sized clothes over me. I use a sweater as a pillow. I mean, what-what do I have to do to at least get a decent bed?” I said, stuttering slightly.
“Ask Enid to lend you a blanket.”
“And vomit everywhere? No thanks.”
“Ask Wednesday.” Weems continued to push.
“She won’t give it, will she?” I said, sarcastically.
“Then sleep in one of there beds.” I squinted my eyes. I’d rather die. :)
“Vomiting annnd denial.” I ended, knowing there was nothing to compromise with.
Ms Weems looked frustrated. This just wouldn’t work. “Your bed will be here the day you get out of suspension. Until then, figure it out.” She said, slightly shoved me into the room and quickly shut the door behind me. The door clicked shut. I sighed and groaned and I plopped on the not-so-comfy floor. “Kill me now.” I said, talking to myself, forgetting that Wednesday was in the room. “Grim or amiable?” Her voice struck me out of my thoughts. “Shit, forgot you were there..Grim, please.” I said, sarcastically. “I want my soul to rise above my body when I die and think ‘At least it was messy.’ “
“I’d kill you in other ways if I had the chance.” Wednesday said. “Oh, yeah? Like what?” I said, “I need some tips on how to kill the fucker that murdered my sister.” Wednesday peered over to me. “You wouldn’t-” Wednesday said, but stopped herself. Her pupils dilated and her eyes darkened. “You don’t want to know. It’s figurative.” She said, and stepped closer. “The murderer would only be surprised, dare I say impressed at the tactic.” She said, not saying directly what she thought of.
“Okay, don’t tell me, then.” I said, sarcastically. “I’m assuming sarcasm is going to be your major? She asked. “Yep, the National Sarcasm Society. ‘Like we need your support.’ “ I said, laughing softly.
(yes this is a real sign in my room)
It stayed comfortably silent for a couple of long moments. "Should we tell Weems?" I asked, slightly worried. "Do you ever stay silent?" Wednesday snapped. "Jesus fucking Christ, I was just asking a fucking question." I said, defensively. I leaned back against the cool wooden floor, letting out a quiet groan to the pleasing tempurature.
A knock at our door sounded just as Wednesday crossed her legs. "Coming! Who is it-" I started to say but the door opened without permission. It was Ms Weems. "No, no. Please, do come in. I insist." I said, sarcastically. Ms Weems looked at me with pure annoyance displayed across her face.
I smiled smugly at her and turned back around to go sit against the colour split window. "What can I do for you?" I asked, placing myself at the floor. "Wednesday," Ms Weems called over to her. She looked at Ms Weems and looked expectant. "Wednesday, please don't make this year a repeat of last year. You know how much damage you caused the school because of your little investigation."
"I saved this school from being burnt to the ground, and you know it. This school would've been nothing but ashes if it weren't for me." Wednesday shot back. "Weems, it's not even her investigation, it's mine! You shouldn't be yelling at Wednesday. She shouldn't even be suspended right now. You do realize its my fault for her sneaking out, with me?" I asked, feeling utterly confused and angry. Ms Weems looked at me. "If it's your investigation then why did you drag Wednesday along? And what is it with you two? Why don't you yell me these things?" Weems asked, sounding hurt.
"Because no matter how odd this school is-" I said, but Wednesday finished my sentence. "You'll never believe us." Ms Weems looked down, and stepped outside the room. Just before she closed the door, Ms Weems said, "Although I don't know you well enough to make this assumption, you are two girls locked in a dorm room together. Don't try anything...non innocent, hm? Enid is one to make big jumps. Don't. Try. Anything." She said, and closed the door. My gave was beet red, and felt hot. Good thing this window was ice cold. I looked over to Wednesday.
Her face still had no drastic change in colour. Every now and then, though, her face would have a splash of flesh-coloured tint in her cheeks. Only I seemed to notice. It would disappear quickly, but just for a split second. A tiny ass millisecond, Wednesday would look happy. And right now was one of those tiny ass milliseconds. Only this time, it felt like years, trapped in her dark gaze.
And in these moments, her eyes would lighten or darken. Depending on who was around.
Maybe, just maybe....me?
