At first sight, the house looked dark. But it wasn't. Not completely at least. It was the single burning candle I saw in the living room that changed my decision of turning the lights on as I trudged toward it curiously. I'd thought that Waleed had maybe left the house to do something, but with the candle... I knew he wasn't careless enough to leave a burning candle if he wasn't home himself.

Then, I saw another candle, just by the stairs. And another one on the top. With my bags in one hand, I climbed up the stairs, careful to not make a sound. I spotted one more candle, the last one, sitting right by the door of our room.

Was he inside?

"Waleed?" I called out as I opened the door. But my confusion melted away and eyes widened in surprise at what he'd done to the room.

It looked like roses had rained over here.

Petals covered the perfectly made bed, the rug and the floor. He himself stood in front of the desk in the corner, lighting up more candles like the dozen other candles weren't enough already, with one rose sitting beside each candle.

I loved it.

"What are you doing?" I dropped the bags on the floor and walked up to him, careful of the petals on the floor because I didn't want to step on any. He turned and smiled at me, holding the candle he'd just lit between us. But he didn't offer an explanation.

It reminded me of how the room had been set up on our wedding night, minus the candles part. But I couldn't get myself to appreciate that room as much as I appreciated this one. Waleed had decorated this one himself because he'd wanted to.

I couldn't stop myself from throwing my arms around his torso to hug him, and silently tell him how much I appreciated him and his efforts. One of his arms came around me since he was still holding the candle with the other.

"What's all this for?" I asked even though my heart raced just a little at the possibility of his answer.

"You got the job."

What?

My eyebrows scrunched in confusion as I lifted my head to look up at him. "I did? How do you know?"

He grinned and set the candle down to wrap both his arms around me now. "You're forgetting that I'm the boss. Saad sent an email to you but one to me too to inform that you've been hired."
