ElizaMy eyes flew open as I realized what I'd forgotten.
Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.
How could I forget such an important thing? Oh, right, because I was too busy fussing over Waleed.
"Stop moving." I jerked at the grumble, unmistakably Waleed's, because who else would I be sleeping on?
"I have to do something..." I tried to reason with him. I needed to go.
The pregnancy test was in the closet. I mean, yeah, I'd just tossed it inside but it was still there. And I needed to show it to Waleed.
Rather than listening to me and letting me go, his arm only tightened where it was curled around my middle, half of me laying on top of half of him.
"Waleed, please let me go. Please. This is important." I tried to push myself up with a hand on his chest, but what match was the strength of my noodle arms against him? Laughable. My attempt to get away was laughable.
He cracked an eye open, using just one to glare at me, as he reached to his nightstand with his other arm to hold his phone up, the time reading eight in the morning.
"It's eight, Eliza. Eight. What could be so important at eight in the morning on a weekend?"
"Will stop acting like a baby when you're going to—" I shut up abruptly and pursed my lips. This wasn't how I was saying anything. Nope.
Waleed blinked at me. "What?"
Thank God he was an idiot. "Nothing. Now let me go!" And because I knew he wasn't going to listen even now, I pinched his arm, hard, and took advantage of his surprise to scramble off him and grab his shirt to throw on before running into the bathroom. The door shut behind me just as he yelled out my name outside. I slapped a hand to my mouth to muffle my laugh as I leaned back against the door.
Once I was out after freshening up, Waleed had sat up on the bed and was scrolling through his phone.
"So... I have something to tell you." I fiddled with my fingers as I slowly inched closer to him and sat down beside him.
He only hummed in response, not looking up from his phone. I scowled. "Can you put the phone down?"
"Yeah, just a second..." His one second lasted for five seconds before he finally put it aside and turned to me, looking as oblivious as one could be. It made me frown.
"You have no clue or idea of what I want to say?"
His eyebrows furrowed in confusion, confirming my suspicion. Wow, he really was stupid. "What would your wife want to talk to you about, Waleed?"
His eyebrows creased further. "Uhh..."
I sighed and slapped a hand to my forehead. "Give me a minute." I shot up from the bed and pulled the closet door open, suddenly regretting just tossing the stick inside instead of putting it neatly somewhere after I'd wrapped it up. I reached between the hung clothes, coming across the folded ones and the jewelry boxes. When I couldn't stick my head in further, I reached inside with my hand, coming across something... smooth? It felt like a box, and I knew I'd never seen it before.
