Rain dripped down from the sky, coating the ruble and remains that were scattered along the grounds of Meteor City. The liquid dripped along our chins and onto the collars of our shirts. The gang hung out in the normal spot, either smoking or joking with one another, like a family. Sounds of my footsteps accompanied the rain pattering on my head as I made my way over to the gang, greeting me with genuine grins. They were my family, the closest thing I had to one at least. My parents didn't even care if I came back to their house dead or alive. The girls were just prostitutes, giving free sex for whatever amount of cash they could get their hands on.

My chest sunk down as breathes traveled through my mouth and into the air. I stared at the clouds drifting along in the sky, raindrops sprinkling along my moist cheeks. My cumbersome body rested on a pile of ruble, joining myself with the rest of the group.

" Hey kid, where ya' been?" Cricket chuckled, his arm wrapping around me like a snake

"Wandering around I guess." I replied in monotone

A light from his cigarette shined off my face as he lit it, smoke emitting from in between his lips. As he pulled his arm away he ruffled my hair, creating a knot. We continued to hang out, taking about nothing in particular as Cricket and Orin kept sparking random conversations. The cigarette light faded and came back as the rain kept attempting to put out the flame made by the lighter. Smoke clouded the area but soon faded into the star covered sky.

We soaked into each other's body heat as we had nothing else. The shards of glass and ruble that covered the rocky surface threatening to cut the skin on my feet. Coldness of the new year air intertwined with my hair, dancing where it wanted to. I paid no mind to my fingers turning blue and focused on the radiant Cricket cracking his sly jokes to no one in particular. Droplets continued to fall, running off the bridges of our noses trying to cleanse us of our impurities.
