We all entered the room, its door closing behind us. I sat down as the others did, getting comfortable seeing as the wait is a while. My cumbersome body slid on the wall, slumping onto the floor with my arms cradling my legs, pushing them to my chest. As my eyes skidded around I spotted the others, Kurapika burying his nose within one of the books provided, Leorio and Tonpa having an intense and anger filled staring contest, and Killua teaching Gon how to use a skateboard. The sliver of my head that was visible slipped away, soon wrapping in the warm embrace that was my arms. In the darkness that was myself I watched my chest rising and falling, the thumping that pulsated through my wrist pounding on my forehead. I shut my eyelids with a shaky and weary breath, reminding myself that I am living although it didn't feel that way.

The persistent fast pumping of my heart drained out the playful banter of the two boys my age. I was scared to close my eyes, the stars of the night sky, the night of which they were slaughtered, the night I realized I couldn't protect anyone I loved, faded into vision, causing my eyelids to jolt open. My eyes stung, rubbing my eyes on the fabric of my torn shirt to rid my face of the tears that had managed to slip away.

"Hey Y/N, wanna learn to skateboard?" Gon spoke to me, jolting out of the nostalgia that was the thoughts

I popped my head out from under my tucked in arms, the cold but familiar sensation of cold air making the hair stand on my neck.

"Sure" I replied softly, hoping it would ease my aching mind and pounding heart
I lugged myself off the solid wall, making my way to Gon and Killua. They greeted me with smiles, I mustered what my quivering lips could. Killua's pale hands grabbed mine, helping me balance on the board, as I glanced at Gon, his furrowed eyebrows raised, catching my gaze, quickly smiling.

"Now push off the floor with your foot" Killua instructed, me soon following through

The wheels on the skateboard rolled across the floor carrying me with it.

"Killua! I'm gonna fall!" I giggled as a rush went through my body, Killua laughing with me

As I held Killua's hand Gon came to my side, gripping my other hand. I turned my head to face the boy, he parted his lips to speak.

He said with a glimmer in his eyes, "Don't worry Y/N, we won't let you fall!"

A smile crept up on my face, giving him a nod. Eventually I got the hang of it, their hands drifted from mine, and I learned with the help of my friends. As Gon was skateboarding the old man shrieked.

"Could you stop?!" Leorio said with an agitated tone

Gon came to a stop, soon laughing while I slipped out giggles as the memory loss was only temporary, a wave of sorrow washing over me. I walked away and sat on what seemed to be a mini couch on the floor, the boys following. Hours passed and the three of us grew bored of conversation, Gon soon had the idea to bring out his fishing rod. First he taught me how to use it including some tricks and tactics to get your prey, then he taught Killua the same thing.

As we messed with the rod the three let out mischievous giggles that filled the room. A cat-like expression appeared on Killua's face, causing Gon and I confusion. He got the fishing rod and aimed it at Leorio, with a swing the rod flew through the air. The hook latched onto Leorio's pants, we looked at the white haired boy.

With a grin Killua whispered, "Jackpot"

We laughed at his comment, staring at the rod in anticipation. Soon, Killua tugged, Leorio stirring out of his sleep with an abrupt awakening.

"Hey, cut it off you guys!" He shrieked, tugging his pants back to where they were before

As he turned to give us a glare Tonpa's foot went into his face making him groan and turn away in disgust, holding his nose with his hand. A silent giggle circled around the room as his face became flushed with embarrassment. My eyes drooped as the tired feeling hit, Gon resting I decided to as well.
As quick as I went to sleep I awoke, balls of sweat rolling down my forehead. My breaths coming out in harsh pants. Tears built up at the edge of my eye sockets, as the nightmare made me relive the tragic nights that started it all. I stared at the floor, my back hunched, I felt eyes piercing my figure. My head swung to meet glossy royal blue eyes filled with concern.

"Nightmare?" he asked, scooching closer to my shaking body

"Yea" I muttered, focusing back down at the floor

"Wanna talk about it?" he persisted

"Sure I guess" I sighed, slumping on the wall

I took in as much air as I could, exhaling before beginning to tell the curious boy. He joined me on the wall, staring at my face, listening.

"So, right before I came to take the Hunter Exam, I lived in a place named Meteor City with my pals that were basically my family. One night we were hanging out by a fire we had set up when a mafia came, saw us as the slums of Meteor City, and the leader ordered his men to get rid of us. They fought us, killing everyone I loved except for me." I paused, attempting to swallow the lump in my throat, Gon now attentive

"I ended up killing the leader out of rage, but the rest drove away. I am still mourning their death because of how recent it was, so I haven't really been able to sleep" I spoke, wishing the words spilling out of my mouth were lies, hoping they still were alive, but that was the only lie

Prickling tears came, soon to be wiped away as before. Killua's eyes saddened, staring into mine. Gon joined the two of us on the wall, wrapping his arm around my shoulder, rubbing my arm. As I continuously wiped my tears away on my dampened shirt the dark haired boy spoke.

"I don't know exactly how your live was at home Y/N, but you can cry here you know" he said sympathetically, Killua nodding in agreement

Those words hit my core, causing a flood of salty tears to come, the dam in my mind finally breaking. I sobbed in Gon's arms that were wrapped around my shaking figure as Killua rubbed my back, the long awaited cry finally here. As my breath hitched Gon whispered sweet nothings into my ear, the two telling me "it's ok to cry" and "everything will turn out ok, it will pass". Eventually, my breaths stopped their fast pace, yet their touch did not leave my body. My eyes grew drooped, balling my fists close to my chest.

"If you're tired you can grow to sleep" Killua said as I yawned and slowly rubbed my eyes

Gon placed me down on the bedding, his warm touch leaving my skin. My eyes fluttered to a close, my ears picking up on a voice.
"Everything will be ok, I'm sorry" a blurry but recognizable voice spoke, which I recognized to be Gon

That was the last thing I heard before the darkness that was slumber pulled me into its embrace, my last thought being grateful for the love my friends could provide me, something I didn't want to venture on my journey without.
