We began to walk, the journey to the second phase commences. The cluster of survivors from the first half soon faded in within the fog. The blonde and the brown haired men departed, becoming engulfed in the fog that draped over the land. As my eyes scanned what I could see the ground under the three of us collapsed, soon emerging out of the bodily fluids of the creature that had consumed us. I wiped the substance off of my eyes with my fists, spotting the two figures to which I recognized. As we were carried by the liquid, we began to rise, soon leaving the animal's body. Our body's pounded against the soil as we were regurgitated, the green-haired boy laughing.

"Guess it didn't like how we tasted!" he exclaimed in between laughter, causing us to giggle as well

I glanced over at Killua, he crushed a can and threw it to the side. I smirked, knowing what trick he had played on the animal. We rose to our feet, soon continuing through our voyage that was the wetlands. The cries of others decorated the atmosphere around us, a worried expression making its way onto Gon's face.

"I'm going to go check on Kurapika and Leorio" Gon said, Killua replied

"Doesn't matter, they're probably already dead"

Gon disregarded his claim and ventured off, he looked back at me.

"You coming?" he asked, the two looking back at me

I whispered to Killua, "I'll go to make sure he is okay" he nodded, I soon replied monotone "Sure"

I watched Killua's figure disappear into the fog like the others, us soon fading as well. We pushed our way through the bushes, our eyes laying upon Leorio fighting the magician, Kurapika lurking in the bushes also. His eyes locked with ours, his finger pressing against his lips. A surprised expression coated my face as Gon emerged from the bushes, swinging attacks at the magician. Kurapika mouthed 'stay put' to which I nodded, soon watching intently on the fight. He continuously mumbled about Gon, making me uncomfortable. He swung, no attacks succeeding. My eyes shifted to the dead lying on the ground, memories flooding my brain.

The faces of the dead appeared, all I had failed to protect. I fell back, tears building up, threatening to spill. My hands shook, I choked, trying to force out the words I didn't know to say. My cheeks began to become moist from the salty tears pouring down my face. Blood painted the grass, much like it did the rocky pavement and rubble of Meteor City. To stop noise, my shaky hands made their way to my mouth, my chapped lips mustering out cries. My chest grew and fell, my heart pounding like the rain on that day. All the words I wish I could breathe out, but to no avail. I wanted to scream, I wanted to forget the horrid memories that had fallen on the day, but not forget them. My mind writhed with the pain that had stained my skin like a tattoo, reminding me of the regret and sadness I felt, reminding me I had no control despite wanting it.

My frantic and puffy eyes lifted from the ground, scanning. They widened as an image appeared, the magician sadistically smiling at the boy, choking him. A feeling built in my chest, motivation to move built as well. I rushed out from the bushes soon swiping the legs under his, his grasp releasing from Gon. Before he had fallen he landed on his hands, bouncing to his feet. I ran and caught Gon as he panted, his eyes at a close.

The magician giggled, "good, good, you will certainly be fun to break. You all pass."

A voice spoke on his walky-talky, he soon disappeared, carrying Leorio with him. Gon opened his eyes, mine crying.

"Gon, are you okay?" I mustered

"Are you crying-?" he cut himself off, my arms wrapped tightly around him like wrapping did on a present

I sobbed into his shoulder, footsteps could be heard. Gon's hands rested gently upon my back, rubbing my back. Kurpika knelt down next to the two of us, a concerned look on the two's faces.

"Please be careful, I can't lose anyone else." I sobbed, my grip tightening, letting go soon after. I looked up at the two, wiping the last dripping tears from under my eyes. The sides of my lips pulled, forming a smile with the last of my energy, to which they smiled back.

"We should get going, the first phase is going to end soon. Kurapika helped me to my feet, once we were all ready we began to run.

"Follow me, I can smell Leorio's cologne!" Gon said, running in front of us

"You can smell his cologne?" Kurapika asked, he replied, sticking his tongue out "Yep!"

"You have a good sense of smell, Gon" I sighed while giggling

We continued to run, the bottom of our shoes becoming coated with the mud that laid upon the surface. As we grew closer a crowd of people came into sight, causing our legs to carry on faster. As we joined the crowd in the waiting area for the next phase Killua and I locked eyes, causing him to nonchalantly waltz over to the three of us.

"You're here! I was starting to think you guys wouldn't make it" he laughed, "Hey, where's the other one?" he continued

"Hisoka took him off somewhere, we don't know where" we sweat-dropped, starting to look around

We slithered through the cracks of the group of people in search of Leorio, knowing Hisoka would arrive he would have to be here somewhere. All of us met back up, none of us had spotted the man nor the magician, the thought he hadn't, made it begin to seep its way into our minds. I looked around once more, spotting a familiar face in peripheral vision.

"Look, it's Hisoka.." I whispered, my voice soon fading

The four of us looked at the magician, his finger pointing in a direction with an ear-to-ear grin painted on his face along with the colorful symbols that contrasted his white skin. My stared lingered on the figure, soon ripping away as I walked in the direction he pointed, the others at my side. Leorio sat leaning against a tree, his face battered and bruised from the fight that had occurred with Hisoka. We kneeled down around him, Leorio soon gaining consciousness.

"What happened?" his hoarse voice spoke as he gently rubbed the bump on his cheek

We glanced at each other, refusing the urge to giggle at the situation.

"We don't know, just found you like this" Killua spoke, putting his hands in his pockets

As the news had spread that the second phase was beginning and the first phase was coming to a conclusion we helped Leorio onto his feet. As the door opened, I was ready. My past I shall not relive and make the present.
