I stalked towards Tsukiko, pinning her to the wall of the cave gently. I hear her heart beat faster then it had moments ago. "Mine." I say with a low growl. Her eyes widen and her lips part slightly as though she was about to say something. I give her a look. "Tell me what happened to you Tsukiko. " I ordered. She shakes her head. There was a small level of fear in her eyes. I felt terrible for scaring her but I needed to know. I had to know what happened to my mate that had hurt her so much. Why was that so hard for her to understand? That's when I realized what had happened. She had been through so much she didn't trust anyone. Not even me. She didn't know we were mates. I backed off. "I'm sorry... go to sleep. " I say feeling a little upset. "Tsume... After the pack banished you the humans came. Everyone was killed. I escaped and made it to a small town. I was captured and forced to fight other dogs, sometimes three at a time. I was.... used in other ways too. So even if I found my mate He wouldn't want me. Oh well. I guess it's better this way. I'm not meant to be in a pack. I don't play well with others. I'd be better as a lone wolf." She said. I stood there looking at her. She seemed so happy when I'd found her. Now I realized that the smile was hiding the sadness in her eyes. "Tsukiko I... your mate wouldn't turn you away for something that wasn't in your control. " I said soothingly. Damn this woman was making me go soft. She looks away. "Maybe. " she said and goes to lay down in the back of the cave. I lay where I was and closed my eyes. If I'd stayed and protected her maybe she would have lived a safe, happy life. It was my fault she'd been hurt.
