Author's Note:
Thank you very much for reading my story. As a novice writer, it brings me joy that you give notice to this small piece of work. I would very much appreciate it as well if I were to receive feedback and comments from my readers as they help motivate me. Anyway, please continue supporting this story and I hope you enjoy reading this chapter. Wah!
Without a moment's hesitation, Cera and I sprang into action. The enemies quickly noticed us trespassing on their territory and attacked. We counted that there were nine crabominations in total, four in the back, two by the rear, and three in front. Despite their looks, they seemed to be rather coordinated.
Cera charged in headfirst, literally. She quickly closed the distance between her and the nearest foe then headbutted it with enough force to knock it back. Pieces of its shell scattered as it took the blow from her and a cloud of dust kicked up which obscured her. The creature staggered as its companions took a step back, possibly from shock.
When the dust cleared up, I saw that she had taken an on an entirely different form. She remained humanoid in figure, but her skin turned into dark violet scales, multiple horns emerged from her head, and a tentacle for a tail appeared behind her. It seems she casted a spell as she charged in previously without me noticing. Then again, most spells can be activated by simply using one's mind.
Seeing her form got me excited. "Wow! That's a cool-looking form you got," I exclaimed.
Cera turned around and gave me a peace sign. "I know, right? I call this form a Nullceratops," she said.
Just then, the crabominations took the opportunity that she was distracted and attacked her with a pressurized blast of dark ooze from their mouth. Just before the blast hit, I casted "Tanker's Dome" which encased her within a dome of violet energy. The entire barrier was then covered in that hazardous liquid and slowly dripped onto the ground.
From inside the barrier I could hear Cera. "Thanks a lot, Xander! That was way too close. Sneaky suckers, I'll be sure to turn you into seafood." she said.
When all the ooze was gone, I deactivated my spell. Cera quickly jumped into the air and landed amid the enemies in the backline, creating a shockwave that knocked them into the air. Taking this chance, she jumped into the air and pierced one of the airborne foes with her long horns. She quickly grabbed what she had pierced and threw it at the other nearby foe. Her throw was so strong that it shattered the shell of her target, killing it in the process.
Before she landed, I quickly casted "Defense Link" which increases her defense by adding mine to hers. She continued her assault; however, her foes have regained their composure and are now attacking with caution. They would block her with their giant pincers while keeping her at bay with their mutated tails. The situation wasn't looking good, I thought we could end this by simply having me provide her with enough defense but that doesn't seem to be the case.
"These guys are annoyingly persistent!" Cera said, knocking back one of the crabs with her punch. "They're starting to get on my nerves!"
"Allow me to join the fray then!" I shouted.
She turned to face me. "Much appreciated!" she said.
With her looking away, the crabominations took this chance to simultaneously crush her with their pincers. I quickly took notice of their intention and grabbed their pincers with my finger tentacles which I just recently learned how to use. I then lifted them up into the air and slammed them onto the ground, creating another dust cloud. Thanks to the Takofication Ritual, I am now capable of such feats which a normal human couldn't do.
