Chapter 5: How the hell did we get here?!?
Luna's POV: I slowly start to wake up, the last thing I remember is Alec throwing that stupid piece of paper into the fire. Then this beautiful, but horrible, black light, if that even makes sense... maybe I am insane. Another thought comes to mind, Alec. Ugh!!! He's such an idiot some times!!! I mean seriously!!! Though, I don't know... I just have trouble staying mad at him. Grr.
I stand up and look around. All around me is a vast, dry, wasteland. The ground is cracked and hard, and the air feels thick with dirt and dust. If I look hard enough I think I can see the top of a tree line, and where there's tree's there's bound to be water.
"Luna???" I hear a groggy and confused voice saying. Alec.
"Oh finally awake are we, sleepy head???" I say tiredly.
"That's not even a slightly sarcastic or snarky remark!" He's astonished.
"Whatever" I say suddenly feeling overwhelmed by tiredness. Which is weird since I usually only sleep for like 3 hours, a week.
"Anyway, while you where asleep I found us a way to water, and at least it's start so we don't die of thirst!!!" I practically yell at him, suddenly really angry.
"Whoa I'm sorry I even said anything." He says turning away from me moodily.
I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose, "Sorry, I don't know what that was. I think this place is messing with me."
"Well then we obviously better get out of here fast!" Alec huffs. Then storms off towards the forest I saw earlier. Sheesh and people say girls are moody!
Finally we reach the forest, but something seems weird about it. It looks as if it's shimmering... Wait, it is shimmering! I would recognize this anywhere! Angel magic! It's a tutella escutcheon. Also commonly known as force field or shield, to keep evil out. See 'tutella' is Latin for protector, and escutcheon is a synonym for shield. Angel's like to make things complicated and mix the languages of the human race together.
I look over at Alec and at the exact same time we both say "Angelical magia!" meaning 'Angelic magic' in Spanish. First Alec walks through, and when he waves me forward from the other side I walk toward the shimmering wall of magic. As soon as I tough the wall, I'm on my hands and knees in excruciating pain. It's like nothing I've ever felt before. It feels as if I'm being burned to the core and drowned in and ocean of electric eels. I want to cry out but I can't. I open my mouth though no sound comes out. Alec rushes over to me to help but as soon as he touches me a blue spark shoots up his arm and he goes flying backwards. It's the most horrible pain I've ever felt, but there is this beautiful sound that comes with it. A hum of many chords on many instruments none more distinguishable than the other. It's beautiful and glories but also horrible. It's what I've always imagined a battle between angel's would sound like.
Then there is a blast of gold and silver and a blur of black. A beautiful girl with golden wings unlike any other, most angels have unique wings different from everyone else, at least the differences appear when you hit the age of 19. Though some, if powerful enough, their wings change earlier. This girl her wings looked as if made from real gold and each feathers tip looked as if dipped in silver. They reflected the light creating their own luminescence. Her hair was almost as gold as her wings flowing down to the middle of her back. It also has some streaks of dark blond running through it. She perched on a sturdy tree branch high up smiling down at me, her ocean blue eyes sparkling.
"So, who would you be?" She asks in a calm, happy voice.
Before I even have time to answer I hear a growl form on top of me and realize I'm being pinned to the ground, by a, wolf???
All of a sudden there is a voice, I can't tell where it's coming from, it seems as if from every where, "Don't talk to her like that! She could be a demon who figured out how to break through the wall but it back fired!" I hear a snicker and feel the wolf shake. I realize that it's the wolf. She, at least I'm pretty sure is a she, is the one talking, but it's in everyone's minds. Only shifters posses this power and only very powerful shifters. Both this angel and shifter are powerful but I'm not so sure who's side there on anymore.
Before anyone else can speak the angel girl says, "Well Mika, if she is evil then she is extremely powerful and did you not see those blue sparks, those are not a product of my tutella escutcheon. No she is very powerful indeed. So I sugest you get off her because if you make her to angry she might snap!" the girl says covering her mouth with her hand to hide a smile and coughing to cover a laugh. I've noticed her voice is sweet and melodic.
He wolf growls then reluctantly gets off me.
"Now stand up!" the angel says, turning her attention back to me, while flicker her wrist in an upward gesture. I do as she requests staying silent. "Now might I ask what you are?" she says laughing a little. I realize that she's laughing at her own question. It is weird though, whenever we meet another such as angels, or demons ect. We are supposed to ask 'What are you' not 'Who are you'.
"Well I'm an angel, and so is he!" I tell her and gesture to Alec.
"I can answer for myself thank you very much!" He says starkly.
The girl laughs at the two of us then looks at the both of us serious, "Show me." She says, and both Alec and I know what she means. Show her our wings.
I stare at the ground hard, and concentrate, it's never taken me so long to show my wings. Though for some reason I'm having a lot of troubles. I look over and see that Alec is on the ground on his hands and knee's panting. His wings fully unfurled. I see his wings and realize what's going on. Our wings are changing, even though I'm only 16 I know mine will be different then before. I guess the rules don't apply to angel's who are born not reincarnated. Alec is a powerful angel so it surprises me his have only started changing a year early.
The girl gasps at Alec's wings and floats down to him, "They are so beautiful!" she says delightedly. I look at his wings frustrated. They are really cool. They are as white as a cloud, tipped with sky blue, and swirls of ocean green running through them. They are at least a few feet longer thane they where before, which is impressive, since he's always had long wings. His wings are specifically built for flying. Long and slim, light but strong.
"My wings could never match your beauty though!" he says giving her a slight bow.
"Schmoozer!" I mutter under my breath. Then they both turn to me and their faces go slack. "What?" I ask.
"You-you-your wings!!!" Alec stammers. I fold my wings around myself to look. As I do so I think it's a stupid idea because it will block out all the light and I won't be able to see them. Though as they get closer the light never diminishes, in fact it seems to get brighter. My wings give of their own brilliant radiance. They are still black but now they look as if there is smoke rising from a fire. It looks this way because the also have shades of gray swirling in them, and the swirls are moving making it really look like smoke. The bottom feathers are a mix of reds, oranges, and yellows, also moving. Each feather is either tipped with gold or silver. It looks dark and dangerous, and beautiful and bright all at the same time. They are now twice the length they where before, and I immediately recognize my wing style. They are strong and full, decorated with a death scene like pattern. They are warrior's wings.
"Wow" I hear two voices say in sink as I unfold my wings. I immediately recognize them as the angel and the wolf. I look and the girl offers her hand to me, with the wolf next to her, "I'm Remmie, and this is Animika!" I take her hand and shake it.
I stare at the two of them, one brilliant and vibrant, the other dark and mysterious. They seem totally opposite but a completely perfect fit for friends. The shifter, Animika, is still in her wolf form, and I can see why. Now that I can see her completely she is beautiful and dangerous looking. She is ebony black with yellow golden eyes and, taller than Remmie, even taller then me, but sleek and slim. Though she is solid muscle. You can tell she's built for long distance running but would also be amazing in battle. Once I'm done my assessment of Animika, I feel drawn to the two. Wanting to befriend them, and not for battle perposes since they would both be powerful allies, but because I feel as though I can trust them. Which is unusual for me. So I step towards them and smile. Remmie and Animika.
