𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 you feel maybe when you think about what could have happened with a person, but it never happened. When you see that everyone has gotten to have that one thing that you've been trying to have for so long, but you don't have.
It's something stronger than nostalgia, stronger than sadness because you know that then melancholy makes you apathetic.

Hope had never experienced melancholy on herself, but that day was a special day, in less than half an hour she would have entered the arena and died there, a nice way to spend her birth day, if she would survived enough .

In reality, she had already had the best gift, kissing Finn had been like breathing again after days of suffocation. It was so selfish of her, she knew how Finn felt for her, and she also knew she would never make it out of the arena alive, yet she gave in. It was probably the best moment of her life, where everything went right for a few seconds.

Now, however, her fairy tale was over and it was time to start fighting, or at least to try to do so.

- "we can't go any further, they will divide you and then you will find yourself in the arena, remember what I told you and try to stay alive" - Oliver said looking at Boyd and Hope.
Boyd was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a jacket and so was Hope.

-"I'm proud of both of you, give your best" - exclaimed the mentor and then embraced Boyd for the first time.
Hope smiled sadly looking at them and then Oliver turned to her.

-"I'll keep an eye on Finn, no matter what" - Oliver said and Hope smiled nodding, as she felt the tears slide down her cheeks.

Oliver would look after Finn even if she died, help him out of trouble, as much as he could, and she was grateful for that.

- "don't cry, kid, we'll see you again" - Oliver said wiping her tears and then resting his forehead on Hope's and then hugged her.

Oliver was the first to break the hug and Hope noticed that Victor had already said goodbye to Boyd and was waiting for her.

-"I'm so proud of you glitter, you were amazing" - said Victor and Hope sobbed from crying.

Victor hugged her and Hope couldn't help but think that if she had an older brother in another life, it would have been Victor.

-"My present for you, for your birthday" - said Victor while Hope quickly wiped away her tears and took a deep breath.

Victor took a gold pin from his pocket, old and a little rusty but Hope found it wonderful. It had a symbol of a rose with thorns.
