I clapped along to the beat of the music, grinning widely and watching the dancers swish around in their sea shell skirts and tops. The Metikaya people decided to have a party that night to honor the tulkuns return. There was dancing, food, excitement, and so much more happening all around. I watched my mother and father sit next to each other in peace, clearly enjoying each others company. I looked out to the dance floor, seeing Tsireya, Roxto, Kiri, Tuk, and Lo’ak all dancing together, with lots more of the sea people children.
Aonung was currently having a deeply conversation with his parents, I didn’t know what it was about. But I’m sure it’s not my business. And Aonung would most likely tell me later anyway. He tells me anything, it’s an honor really, being that one person Aonung feels so comfortable with sharing all his life problems. And I comfort him in the best was possible.
Speaking of Aonung, he had finally finished his conversation with his parents and quickly walking over to the log I was sitting on. He took a seat and leaned over, his elbows on his thighs.
I laughed, “Tough talk?”
“As a matter of fact, yes,” Aonung said in a harsh voice, “I’m so tired of my parents forcing me to know all this stuff so I can the ‘best warrior and leader for the clan’,” Aonung rolled his eyes,
I frowned, “I’m sorry,”
He looked at me and sat up, “It’s not your fault, there’s no need to apologize. I’m just stressed is all,”
I nodded understandingly, then got an idea, “I know what will help you, it has helped me before so it must help you,”
Aonung raised an eyebrow, “And what is that amazing idea?” He asked,
I stood up and offered my hand, he took it with no hesitation. I began leading him to the part of the sand me and my family landed our ikrans on, when we first arrived here. I let out a loud call, a bird call. Soon enough I could hear wind moving through wings. And my ikran,(ikran name), landed on the soft sand. Slightly screeching when he/she landed.
I let go of Aonungs hand, and saw him softly smile at (ikrans name). I walked up to him/her, and patted her/his neck. She/he let out a coo in appreciation. I reached behind me and grabbed my braid, making the bond with (Ikran name). Then I tightened the saddle on her/him. And pulled myself up, adjusting myself and putting my feet on the stirrups. I looked at Aonung,
“This is my Ikran, (Ikran name)- do you want to fly?” I said with a grin,
Aonung, being hesitant, looked me up and down on my ikran, not knowing how to answer. I smiled and said,
“Fly!” And suddenly I was in the air, soaring around. The wind whistling in my ears. I looked down to Aonung, seeing his face full of amazement. I grinned once more, almost proud of myself. I felt amazing to be in the air again, how I’ve missed this so much. I flew around the village, over the huts, around the sand, the water, and I flew over the party, watching the small water children gasping and looking up. I laughed, and tightened my grip on the saddle. Flying up then going down, in a circle. The Metikaya people all gasped in intrest and amazement, my mother smiled softly while my dad looked down and shook his head, but I could still see a smile on his face. I flew back to Aonung and landed quickly, jumping off when I landed, taking the ikrans head in my hands and petting her/him.
"Now, will you fly with me?" I asked him,
He nodded, "Yeah, I will,"
I hopped back on and connected my braid with (Ikran name) once again. Aonung walked over and pulled himself up, and adjusted himself so he was sitting right behind me and wrapping his arms around my slim waist. I looked towards him and smiled softly, he smiled back, his diamond eyes glistening in the sunset.
"Are you ready?" I ask him,
He shrugged, "Wish I was more ready,"
I grinned and yelled, "Fly!"
(Ikran name) flew to the sky, flapping his/her large wings through the air. I guided him/her through the sky, flying over the sea and looking at the list up coral through the clear water. I could feel Aonungs beating heart against my back, but he gasped softly when he saw a ilu splash around with a group of young Ilus. I was grinning so widely my face started to hurt, I was becoming way overexcited about fly, even though I had done it a thousand times before. But this time it felt different, flying with Aonung is an experience I won't forget, something about flying with your lover just made the full experience a lot better.
Aonung tapped twice on my shoulder, and I turned around to look at him. He pointed and looked down, indicating he wanted to land. I nodded and guided (ikran name) down to the ground. She/he hit the ground softly, the landing being padded from the sand. I hopped off and took (ikrans name)s head in my head, hugging it gently. I could feel someone staring at me and when I turned around I saw Aonung staring at me along with Tsireya, Lo'ak, Tuk, Kiri, Roxto, and Tuk. Tuk ran to me and jumped in my arms,
"Big bro, that was so cool! I saw you fly over the party!" She exclaimed,
I giggled at her, "Thanks, Tuk!"
"I agree, it was amazing, the sea people have never seen that before," Tsireya added, smiling softly as she looked at her brother who was still staring at me,
Aonung seemed to snap out of his trance when he saw that I had caught him staring, he looked away and blushed, rubbing the back of his neck. I giggled to myself and pickd up Tuk,
"Come on, everyone, let's go swim!" I yelled,
Everyone nodded in agreement, with an excited 'yay!' from Tuk.
