Neteyam POV -
___________________________________Tuk began splashing around in the water, screaming excitedly when someone would get water on her. I watched from the shallow part of water, sitting Dow in it so the water was up to my waist, I dug my feet in the sand and swayed my arms back in fourth in the water. Enjoying its warmth on my cool skin.
Lo’ak and Aonung were racing each other back and fourth in the water as many times as possible, Tsireya was floating at the end, keeping track of who the champion was. Kiri was on her stomach facing the water, her whole body submerged under water. She was looking at the small fishes swimming by. Her legs and feet were above water, kicking them slightly, causing splashes of water to land on Tuks body. She giggled at it.
I smiled at the sight, but I wondered what Kiri liked about being underwater so much. I leaned back until my whole body was underwater. I saw small bubbles of air rise to the surface of water as I let out the air from my lungs through my nose. A small fish with neon colors swam by, intrigued by the weird creature in its home. I reached my hand towards it, and it swam around it eagerly. I smiled at the sight, being careful not to let water fill my lungs. It rubbed its skin against my hands, and I could feels it’s scales against my hand. Suddenly, it swam away, frightened. I sat up, and breathed in a large amount of air, looked around, and spotted the group surrounding me. I raised my eyebrows,
“What is going on?” I asked,
“We thought you died!” Exclaimed Tuk,
Tsireya hugged Tuk and smiled at me, “We did not, we just wanted to see wether you wanted to play something with us, Tuk says it’s called “tag” but I’ve never heard of it, “ Tsireya explained, a curious look on her face. I nodded,
“Of course we can play, Tuk can tell everyone how to play it as well, right Tuk?” I looked towards her,
She nodded, “Yes! Yes, I can!”
I smiled at her, and stood up, the water going to ankle height. I clapped my hands together, “Alright! Come on, everyone, let’s find an open space to play,” I explained,
Tuk jumped up and down in the water, small drops of water splashing everywhere, then she took off, in search of an area to play. Tsireya chased after her, and Lo’ak followed. Kiri rolled her eyes before walking towards them with Roxto. I turned my attention to Aonung, and approached him, resting a hand on his arm, moving it up and down his soft skin. I reached up, on my toes, and placed a simple kiss on his lips. I walked away, waving, “See ya, fish lips,”
Aonung stood there, still processing what had happened. I giggled at the sight, then ran towards the group.
I arrived and saw Tuk running around everyone as they tried to catch her, but since she was small, and quick, everyone had trouble catching her. She ran towards me and tried to dodge me, but I wrapped my arms around her and picked her up, squeezing her gently, “I got you!”
Tuk giggled and began kicking her legs, “Let me down, let me down!” She exclaimed,
I placed her down on the sand, and turned around to see Aonung walking towards me. He stood and stopped next to me, watching everyone try to catch Tuk once again. I looked up at him and smiled softly, he stared into my eyes and smiled again. I heard a gentle laugh and saw Tsireya covering her moth with her hand, watching us. I looked at her and put my finger in front of my mouth, mimicking hushing her. She nodded and ran towards Tuk, reaching her arms out to catch her but, yet again, she missed.
Tuk giggled slightly but was quickly caught by Roxto, who lifted her up and put her on his shoulders. Tuk laughed and outstretched her arms, Tsireya stood behind Roxto, holding Tuks sides so she wouldn’t fall. Kiri was sitting in the water, meditating it looked like. Aonung went behind Tsireya and lifted her up, Tsireya screamed and began hitting Aonung, “Let me down, jerk!” She yelled at him. Aonung continued holding her in his arms until she shook her way though. Running into Lo’aks arms, who welcomed her lovingly.
I smiled at the sight. Tuk ran over to me and reached up, I picked her up and rested her on my hip, she whispered something in my ear, she then giggled and I laughed in response. Aonung looked at me with a questioning look. I stared at him and grinned,
“Tuk said we should play ‘Truth or Dare,’ it is a human game our human friend told us once, it’s really fun!” I said to everyone,
Roxto nodded, “Let’s do it!”
Everyone except Kiri nodded their heads in agreement. I sat down on the warm sand and placed Tuk next to me, who began playing with the sand. Everyone else gathered around, also sitting on the sand. I placed my finger in the air,
“To play this game, one person would ask another person ‘truth or dare,’ if they choose truth then you can ask them a question and they must say a truthful answer. But, if they pick dare, then they have to do what the other person says,” I smiled softly at everyone,
Tsireya looked at me confused, then spoke up, “Alright, I’ll go first,”
She began looking around at everyone before staring at Lo’ak, “Lo’ak.. truth or dare?”
Lo‘ak began thinking, “Truth,” he answered with confidence,
“Okay, do you like me?” She asked, a smirk on her face
Aonung smirked as well while Tsireyas face turned a dark blue. Lo’ak puffed out his chest, “I do, I don’t care if you knows\ or not,”
Tsireya looked at him and smiled softly, he did the same. Kiri shrugged and pointed at Roxto, “Your turn,”
Roxto looked around the circle and stopped at Tuk, “Tuk, truth or dare?” He raised an eyebrow at her and smiled, she grinned and answered quickly, “Dare!”
“Well, I dare you to go build a giant sand castle,” he said,
Tuk nodded reluctantly and went close to water, quickly gathering sand and molding it. I smiled at Roxto, knowing it was just to get Tuk away so the older ones can ask interesting questions without confusing young Tuk. He quickly grinned back. Aonung noticed our exchange and scowled at it, turning his head towards the water. I started at him. Lo'ak and Tsireya were holding onto each other for dear life.
"Okay, so who is going next?" I asked, looking around the circle,
"I will!" Announced Tsireya, holding her hand,
She began looking around the circle, choosing the next victim. She stopped at me, "Neteyam, do you yawne lu(Navi for love- I think) someone?"
I felt heat rise to my face, and I looked down to cover it, "Possibly," I said,
Tsireya smiled widely, "Okay! You don't need to tell us, that's your business,"
I smiled softly at her, thanking her.
She nodded understandingly. Kiri had decided to join us. Sitting next to Roxto on the sand and smiling at him before speaking up, "Can I play?"
"Of course," I told her, looking at her and smiling,
"Okay, Neteyam, can we go home?" She raised her eyebrows,
I rolled my eyes, "Sure, go grab Tuk,"
She immediately got up and raced for Tuk, picking her up without explination. Earning a few screams from Tuk. They raced towards our hut. I looked at Lo'ak, he understood. placing a kiss on Tsireyas and telling her a quiet goodbye. I got up and looked at Aonung, waving slightly and smiling. He waved as well, and looked the other way. I frowned and walked towards out hut, following Lo'ak. I stepped into the walkway through the village, meeting my siblings in our hut. I smiled at my mother, and she smiled back. She quickly called me over towards the small fire pit where she was roasting fish,
"Neteyam, I need you to go get some fish, can you do that?" She looked at me and raised an eyebrow,
I nodded, "Yes, mother, is there a certain one I should get?"
She shook her head, "No, just the one we always get,"
I nodded once more, and walked out of the hut.
