A few days flowed by, and Jungkook and Taehyung had found their peace.Jae Wook was in prison, waiting to be transferred to his regular cell that would become his home for the rest of his life.
So many cases closed with his arrest. Jung Jeo Soon, the fake police officer from Daegu who had stolen Park Jin Hae’s identity, was caught as well since the police forced Jae Wook to spill all the names of his accomplices. He had indeed killed the real Park Jin Hae, and the police just yesterday found his body buried in the mountains with Jeo Soon’s instructions.
Seo Ju Hyun, the detective who was in charge of Taehyung’s parents’ murder case, turned out to be dead in his isolated cottage for months. Jae Wook confessed to killing him, saying it was because he discovered Ju Hyun kept searching for the truth of his team’s death. He also confessed to killing his team.
They already knew he was the one behind Jeosun’s death, though they still pressed for his confession to this murder as well.
And finally, Jungkook and his family got the closure they were thirsting to find. They gave Kang Ho the justice he deserved. They visited his grave, left him a variety of flowers, and told him he could rest in peace now.
. . .
Jungkook, arrayed in a casual cashmere sweater and black jeans, leaned against the back of the couch and crossed his arms over his chest. He had been waiting for Taehyung to find something to wear for over thirty minutes now, and his patience was running out.
Just as he was about to check on him, a door clicked open. He locked his gaze on the hallway and his brows slid upwards when Taehyung popped into his vision. “Don’t you think wearing a suit is too much?”
Taehyung glanced down at his attire. “You don’t like it?”
“You’re gorgeous no matter what you wear, baby. But we’re just meeting my parents for dinner. No need to be so formal.”
Taehyung’s now puppy eyes lifted to him, then dropped along with his shoulders as he released a shivery sigh. “I’m nervous, okay? I want to look perfect for your parents.”
His fidgety demeanor pulled a smile from Jungkook, and with a few slow strides of his legs, he stood right in front of him. He positioned a hand on his cheek, holding it with immense affection — the same emotion that spilled from his eyes. “You’ve met my mother already. You know her.”
“Yeah, obviously I’m talking about your father who hates me,” he spoke through sulky lips, a constant complaint coloring his tone. His eyes sprang to him at the sound of his adorable chuckle, though his attention shifted to the hand on his cheek that got dangerously close to his neat, styled hair. “Don’t.” He snatched his wrist before he could smooth his hair back. “You’ll ruin my hair.”
Another snort leaped out of Jungkook’s throat. “Fine, fine.” He instead cupped both of his cheeks and smashed a long kiss on his lips. “Why do you think my father hates you, though?”
“He doesn’t know me at all, Jungkook. He only knows me as a criminal. As Jin Mo’s best.”
Jungkook spectated the persistent gloom that was glued to his astonishing traits and sighed softly. “My father proposed this dinner, Tae. He wants to meet you.”
Taehyung’s brows shot up with the widening of his eyes. “Really?”
Unable to resist his adorable countenance, Jungkook planted a row of sweet kisses to his lips. “Yes. He wants to thank you. We were able to find the Umbra because of you.”
“Yeah, and it turned out to be my hyung all along.” He couldn’t conceal the bitterness in his voice.
“That doesn’t matter. What matters is that we found him. And I told you. You’re not at fault in any way. You didn’t know.”
