Skylers POV
Running on about 3 hours of sleep, classes were kicking my ass. I couldn't focus and nearly all the information I was suppose to learn I soon forgot, but at least I was done for the day. I wanted to go back to the room, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about Ellie being there. With her constant coming and going, mostly going I still haven't pinned down her schedule.

Back at the room and it didn't seem that there were any traces of her presence as of late.
I fall onto my bed, staring at the ceiling for a second. Everything in me wanted to sleep, but I needed to at least try to figure out what the fuck I was taught today. I figured this would be better with some help. I send liv a text pleading to be rescued.
"Bestie I need your help."
"Help is on the way!"
God, after being friends for so long I really wished some of her positivity would rub off on me.

Olivia and I sat criss-cross on my bed, papers scattered in every direction. I felt like a child, being yelled at by her father over fractions at the dinner table.
"Ugh please enough." I fall back into my pillow dramatically.
"Girl, you're never going to graduate."
"Liv I can't do this today, I only had a few hours of sleep."
"And who's fault is that?" I gave her a face. She didn't know why the lack of sleep, she just thinks it was my own dumbass brain not letting me. Not the fact I was waiting up for Ellie, hoping to get some sort of clarification.
"Do you need some weed? To help you sleep?Becca knows someone."
"Ugh no, it will just make it worse."
"Okay fine, but don't come crying to me when you put yourself in a early grave."
"Oh haha-" I cut myself off as I heard the familiar sound of a key jingle.

"Shit- sorry, I just need to get something." Ellie sounded a little frazzled. Probably wasn't expecting me to be back and definitely not with company.
"No it's fine. I was just leaving." Liv's tone was slightly bitchy. I didn't know why, maybe she just assumed something was up.
"Just study these four and you'll be good." Liv pointed to the pieces of paper. I nod and she kisses my head before turning on her heal and exiting.

"Hey sorry about her she's just kinda... protective." I lied. I knew she could be a bitch.
"It's all good." She made eye contact but, quickly darted her attention elsewhere. She looked... different. I didn't know what it was but, something was different.

I wanted a out of pocket conversation from her. I missed them even if they made me slightly uncomfortable. Anything it better than this.
"How was classes?"
She looked at me and that's when I realized what was different. Her eyes were red, face slightly swollen. Was she crying? Sick maybe?
"Oh- you know." Her voice sounded dry and the laugh she exhaled sounded forced. She wasn't being an ass or a cocky son of a bitch to me. Something was wrong.

I had to make a move. If this was last week I wouldn't give two shits, but now I have make sure she's okay. The same way she made sure I was okay at the party. I got up and began to walk closer. I cautiously sit on her bed next to her. Like being in a enclosure with a starved lion, I moved slowly.

Her eyes followed me, confused.
"You okay?" I rested my hand on hers, which was folded in her lap. She flinched slightly. Her hand had a slight tremor I didn't notice before. The veins running across the back of her hands seems more visible than previously.
"You can talk to me."
"I-I don't think I can." Her voice was trembling at this point. I always saw her as this unbreakable force, completely parallel to the girl I sat beside now. I subconsciously squeezed her hand tighter, causing her to finally look at me.
I smiled at her, finally happy to see some progress.
"Do you remember when you told me to  'pretend to not hate your guts' before we entered the fraternity?" I was now holding her singular hand with both of mine in my lap.
"Psh yeah." Her cheeks became fuller from the smile that displayed on her lips.
"I really liked doing that." My voice was soft and genuine. I had a blast that night despite what happened later in the evening.
She looked up, our eyes lock. Her face became serious. Maybe she didn't know what I meant exactly, but she soften her features a second later.
