Awaken [Ch. 9]

Sonic POV

How..what..why does he know..?
I was staring at him...he was staring back. Both of us confused.

"how..?" i started.
He covered his mouth and looked at me, worried.

"tell me." i demanded, he then looked down.

"i..read about it in a book before. But i wasn't sure if it's possible in reality so i didn't ask." he told me. So it was a book, i see..it's a fantasy illness after all.
I wiped my tears and stood up, then turned around and started walking.

"wait." he said and grabbed my left wrist, which hurt.

"you don't have to do this blue" he said.

"how clueless you are.." i said, then turned back and pulled my left glove down, revealing the bloody bandage. He gasped.

"even this isn't enough to numb the chest pain. I do have to do this, what's the point in waiting?" i told him.

"sonic.." he held my hand gently and looked at the bandage. This made me tear up again, wow.
Then he unbandaged my wrist, the cuts were bloody from the pressure that was put on them. Shadow's expression was something i never seen before..he felt sorry. He looked sorry..like it was his own fault.
He then looked up at me, and said something i never wanted to hear.

"remove the flowers." he said, maintaining a serious face while doing so. I immediately shaked my head, there's no way i will do that.

"i don't want you to suffer the consequences" i told him then pulled my hand away.

"and what about tails? And the others? If you don't do it they will be the one suffering the consequences" he said..which was true.
I don't want to choose..i really don't.

The stinging..argh..

Shadow POV

Sonic was always close to me, closest actually. I never payed attention to figure out what i feel about him honestly..i do liked holding him and all that, but do i love him? I'm not sure..maybe i do maybe i don't. But then why did the disease suddenly appear? Is it because we never thought about figuring it out? Or maybe he realised he loves me and that incident forced the disease to happen..
Just when i finished my thoughts, sonic fell on his knees.

"sonic!?" i shouted out and put a hand on his back. He was coughing like before, even blood was on the floor..horrible sight. It went on for minutes that felt like hours.
Then he finally stopped, having an orchidea flower head in his own pool of blood.
I can't stand seeing him like this..it's torture. And this is what he was doing everyday behind my back..oh god, poor him..

"it hurts.." he mumbled.

"i know..i know" i said while rubbing his back. Then he fell on me.

"blue?" i called him while shaking him gently. He fainted. I wasn't sure what might happen after this but i don't want him to throw his life away because of me. So i picked him up in a bride position and took him to tails, forgive me blue.

Tails POV

I heard shouting behind my door, so i rushed down and opened it.

"what ar- sonic?!" i said when i realised he's holding sonic who's unconscious.

"he fainted after coughing up a flower head"
He said and put sonic down on the couch.
Oh so he didn't choke on a flower like before, that's a relief..
Then i rushed to sonic and made sure he was breathing.

"tails, he has hanahaki disease." he said, and i nodded.

"i know" i said. He looked surprised but also disappointed.
