"Net....why did you kiss me? You kissed me again! Why are you always doing things like that?"

James stood in front of Net, his couple partner at Domundi.
With him he hoped to become a really famouse BL Series couple just like their colleagues Zee and NuNew, or Max and Nat, from the same agency, after their long-awaited first series together.
Right now James had a troubled expression on his face and was NOT amused.

The Thai entertainment industry, in particular the boys love series scene, was really on the rise, also internationally, and now, thanks to the global success of the LGBTQ+ movement, offered an incredible amount of potential for fame, money and a secure job.

Anyone who had a knack for casting young, mostly gay or bisexual, handsome, talented men for such a series could be sure of earning a fortune with music, advertising, merchandising, etc. It all rose and fell with the fans of these series. If the couples were cute, pretended to be connected in privat or even were interessted in each other in a romantic way, then almost everything that makes money was secured.

At events for fans, intimacy was often staged with holding hands and brief touches. People freaked out, especially young women, but it also caused some inconveniences for the actors.

Very often it didn't really matter whether the young men on stage or on TV actually liked each other, or were even gay or in love, it simply should look like that for the camera.
Again and again, you heard about sexual assaults on the casting couch, behind closed doors, or about nervous breakdowns and burnout because it wasn't easy to live this "lie", if you didn't really have amorous feelings for your partner. Also the daily workload with shows, promotional advertising, less sleep etc. just became too much sometimes.

Actually, if you had a good partner at your side, understood each other well, could rely on each other, could allow physical closeness, then the couple was perfectly suited to become a longer thing, to live their dream of the limelight and achieve a certain level of notoriety.
If it wasn't, the pairs flopped after a while depending on how long the reserves of strength lasted to create a false reality.

However, at the production company that casted and signed Net and James, executive producer P'Aof seemed to have a knack for casting young men who were a good match. He also cared a lot about his actors. At Domundi it was more like among friends or in a family, with a strict father at the helm, who kept everything running, but who always had an open ear for the worries and needs of his protégés. It was important to him that problems were discussed with one another, that actors were allowed to have their oppinion and that his guys told him in time if they were unhappy, to take measures to prevent mental unease.

If one of the couples actually fell in love in real life, that was welcome as it made a lot of the fanservice stuff much easier, like holding hands etc.
However, thai society did not seem to be mentally or politically ready yet to show gay couples on television and still want to keep it all under the aspect of pure entertainment, where it was always possible to assume that it was all just fake.
That was why the couples never spilled their tea with obvious 100% unambiguous statements.

However, some were already at 90% - 99% in public and were supported for their brave love, despite all the haters on social media platforms.

Net and James had been with Domundi for over a year, James a little longer than Net. They were now entering the second year of their ship together and had not yet had their own series due to pandemic events around the world making filming impossible.
However, they were very popular because they had been promoted well with songs, with short film sequences or vlogs and now everyone finally wanted the two in a series.
