all three of the gilmore girls are sitting around the dining room table for friday night dinner, "so where'd you say dad was?" lorelai asks her mother. "away on business," emily responds shortly before elegantly bringing her forkful of diner to her mouth.
"location top secret?" lorelei says trying to crack a joke that only her children would fully comprehend, "oh germany," emily answers not acknowledging lorelei's wisecrack. it's not rare that emily doesn't quite understand her daughters humor and she seems to have passed that humor down towards her daughters, especially tori. the two are more alike then anyone realizes.
continuing on with her mothers ways, tori speaks up, "germany," she tsks, "is grandpa insuring nazi's now?" tori has her fingers crossed that her grandmother gets this joke. she practically layed it out in front of her on the table.
"your grandfather doesn't know any nazi's" emily insists still not comprehending the fact that her daughter and granddaughter are fooling around with her.
"we know grandma, we were just-," tori starts to but cuts herself of to cover up a laugh with a cough along with her mother.
"what?" emily asks her, not understanding what the two where laughing at. she's ready to toss back another martini if they keep it up.
rory the only one composed and nice enough to answer her, "joking. they were just joking grandma," finally realizing what has happened emily says, "ah, well it's hard to tell with those two."

rory comes out of her room where music is blaring and walks into the kitchen where her mom and sister are sitting at the table awaiting her arrival while eating cinnamon rolls, "hey, i've had an idea for a new reality show. how about everybody just looks out their friggin' kitchen window for a change."
"ooh, she's cranky this morning," rory quips before turning around to bite into her apple and pour herself a cup of coffee, "what'd you say to her this time that got her going?" she asks tori.
"what! why do you assume it's me that go her going?" tori defends herself before thinking about it for a moment and quickly says, "well anyways it wasn't me this time she turned on the news before i could get out here and stop her."
"let's just say the worlds got a formidable opponent." lorelei says as she's switched the tv off and sets the remote down.
"wait shouldn't you be baking?" rory points her finger at her mother accusingly.
with a grossed face tori looks at her sister and says, "if she should be baking the. shouldn't you be knitting?"
"tori! mom! the chilton bake sale is today!" she reminds them not finding tori's joke the least bit amusing while lorelei thought it was hilarious and gave her a high five under the table so she didn't set rory off.
"i know i got it covered," she reassures rory. however that did work at all, "you know they expect things to be homemade," she reminds her putting emphasis on homemade.
"by someone other then dolly madison," rory says not believing her.
"i said i've got it covered!" lorelai defends herself with tori quickly jumping in stopping her sister from jumping to any more false accusations.
