tori is cleaning out her locker when amanda, her best friend, walks up to her with a pout on her face, "i can't believe we won't be cheering together anymore! the team won't be the same without you! now we have to find someone to take your spot, and no one can do that! i heard that gina harris is going to try out. she can't walk in a straight line let alone get tossed in the air and land standing on someones hand!"
tori turns around so fast she almost smacks amanda in the face with her hair. she looks at her best friend with a sad look, "i know, i know and i sorry that i'm up and leaving you manda, i really wish i didn't have to leave you. if i could take you with me i would, but this school is a once and a lifetime opportunity. i can't afford to not go, this is my only chance into getting into yale. plus im sure someone other then gina harris will try out. if not-- i'll pray for the team."
amanda grabs a box from tori's overfilled arms and shuts her locker, "i get that, which is why i am 100% supporting this decision like the awesome supportive soon to be very lonely in 3rd, 4th, and lunch time best friend!"
"Thanks amanda, that means so much to me," tori reaches down to a box on the floor, grabs her pom-poms, and shakes them, "now are you ready for one last game?"

lorelai and rory are sitting at their table in awkward silence.
rory is picking at her salad before lorelai decides to break the silence, "so you were late getting home tonight."
"yeah, i went to the library," rory tells her mom looking up from her food.
they fall back into the silence before lorelai says quickly, "oh, i uh forgot to tell you, we're having dinner with your grandparents tomorrow night."
shocked and confused rory says, "we are?"
"mmhmm."
"but it's september," she says still not believing her mom.
"yeah so?" lorelai shrugs trying not to make a big deal out of it.
"so what holiday is in september?" rory questions her mother.
lorelai snaps, "look, it's not a holiday thing. it's just dinner, okay?"
"fine sorry," rory mumbles.
luke walks over and hands the girls their food, "red meat can kill you. enjoy."
trying to lighten the mood lorelai looks at rory and says, "so, i finished hemming your skirt today," she got no answer, "a grunt of acknowledgment might be nice."
rory snaps at her mom, "i don't understand why we're going to dinner tomorrow night. i mean, what if i had plans? you didn't even ask me."
"well, if you had plans i would have known."
"how?"
"well, you would have told me."
"i don't tell you everything. i have my own things" rory grumbles.
