***Carl's POV***
Holy shit. I still can't wrap my head around what happened. Did we really kiss like that? It didn't seem real...
"Carl! Are yiu even listening to me?"
"Huh? Oh yeah. Sorry. What's up?"
"You and Amie can do anything you want today. We're taking a day off from chores."
"Okay." I saw a hint of a smile hinting at Amie's face. We finished breakfast and leaned back, relaxing. Glenn signed for me to come talk to him.
"I got that thing you wanted. What do you think?" He pulled a small satin box out of his box and handed it to me. I opened it. The sight took my breath away. It was a small locket. One side was a carved glass rose. The other side was thick silver, perfect for the carving I wanted to do.
"Oh my god, Glenn. This is perfect! How did you find it?"
"It was sitting on a shelf in a glass case. The case had been broken, buy nothing was disturbed. It was just sitting there open, and I knew it was perfect."
"Wow." I marveled at the beauty of it. It was perfect. A perfect gift for a perfect girl.
"Thanks Glenn. I know who to talk to about stuff like this from now on!" He grinned and I walked away, stuffing the box in my pocket.
Amie pulled me down into the tent, kissing me passionately as she zipped the flap of the tent back up. She pulled my shirt off, tossing it to the side. I pulled her tank top off, leaving both of us half naked. We kissed, both of us almost losing control of ourselves. I slid my hands in the sides of her jeans. She had her hand on my back, pulling me in to her. She pushed me away for a minute.
"What's wrong?"
"Come with me." She put her track top back on and arranged her hair to hide her neck. I pulled my shirt on and followed her out. She walked to the barn and pulled the door open and shut. We giggled and climbed up the ladder to the hay loft. "Remember this?" I picked her up and spun her around. We fell in the straw, just like the day I asked her to be my girlfriend. She crawled over to me and acted like she was gonna do something freaky, until she pecked my cheek and dove into the straw.
"Wait a minute. What day is it?"
"July 14, why?"
"Yaaaayy!!!"
"What?" I was a little freaked out at this point.
"Today's my birthday! Time sure flies during the apocalypse, doesn't it?"
No shit. This was as perfect as it could be. "I'm glad I did what I did!"
"What? Ask me to be your girlfriend?"
I grinned. "No. This." I pulled out the little satin box and handed it to her. She opened it, and it took her breath away. "Oooh, Carl! This is gorgeous! I... I don't even know what to say! Put it on!" I pulled the necklace up around her beck and gently latched it.
"I was going to put an engraving in it, but I didn't have time." She had tears in her eyes. "It's okay. I love it. I couldn't ask for anything better. I love you, Carl Grimes. Don't you ever forget that. Okay?"
"Okay. I love you too."
***A/N***
This felt like a rally good place to end the chapter. I was crying writing this, but it doesn't help that I was listening to Animal by Ke$ha. If you're on Instagram, you need to look at my last post and the on before the black pic. You will laugh until you cry. If I can't update tonight or Saturday I'm sorry. I'm in Texas for my anuts wedding and won't really have time to write . It's almost 6 o'clock in the morning and it's still darker than the pits of hell. Wouldn't be able to live here. I'm feeling really sad, so that may be reflected in my writing. If it is and the chapters turn out like crap, I'm really sorry. I will go back and edit later if I need to. Comment any concerns or if you want to be a character.
