July 16, 3 PM

***Carl's POV***
Amie drifted in and out of sleep. I heard my mom yell for dinner. I was hungry, so I decided to go get something to eat and come back up here. I opened the door and was ready to go when I heard Amie's feeble voice.
"Carl?"
"Yeah baby?"
"Where are you going?"
"I was going to go get us both something to eat. I'll be quick. Don't worry."
"No! Please. I don't want to be alone. I won't be able to keep from thinking about her. Please stay with me?"
"Okay."
(A/N just so you know I thought this scene was so cute by itself and I was going to just leave it but it was really short. So you're welcome.)
***Amie's POV***
You can tell you have a good boyfriend when he could go get food but he stays by your bedside instead.
That's the kind of boyfriend I have. I will never leave him. No matter what happens.
"Babe. Babe. Babe. Earth to Amie. Are you okay?"
"Huh? Yeah. Sorry. I was thinking."
"That's okay. I understand. Do you want to talk about it?"
"I don't know. I was the last person she spoke to. I have that weighing on my conscience. And something isn't right. I can feel it. I just can't figure it out. Nothing makes sense. Normally I don't like to eat. I've trained myself out of eating. Surviving on what I have. But lately I've been starving. And I feel nauseated all the time. Maybe I'm having a hard time adapting to the fact that I have real food to eat. But I'm okay. I promise."
"Okay."
I could tell he didn't like it. I don't either. Oh well.
"Hey Carl?"
"Yeah?"
"You can go get dinner now. As long as you bring me some. A big helping please.''
"Okay."
He walked out and I fell asleep again.
***Carl's POV***
I'm officially freaked out now. I remember what that means. We just have to wait and see if Amie is actually pregnant or if she has a parasite. I don't want it to be either one. We're too young to be parents. And I don't want her to have to experience this during the apocalypse. It's just fucked up. None of this should ever happen. I'm not a religious person, but I'm praying. Her words rang in my ears.
Stay with me.
