Chapter 23

After school I called Melody and told her I would be home early. She didn't really care because she was mad I woke her up from her "beauty sleep."

I begin walking to Grimm's room when I hear someone yelling behind me.

"Hood, wait!" He said. 

I thought it was Luke, but it wasn't.

I turned to him and he engulfed me in a hug, "Carter?" I asked.

He was panting, "Hi Hood." He said. 

"What are you doing here?" I asked. 

"I ran to see you. I skipped because I was afraid I didn't want you to hate me. " He said. 

"I don't hate you." I said. 

"But you said all those bad things about me" He said. 

I peeled his hands off of me. "I did that because they're true." I said. 

"I didn't mean to. I swear. It was the moment I was in. At the dance!" He said. 

"Carter, no matter the moment I wouldn't do what you did!" I yelled.

He stayed silent for a second.

"Trying to think of something to say? Are you speechless? Good because I was too when I found out Leila was pregnant." I said. 

"Who's Leila?" He asked. 

"The girl you cheated on me with!" I said. 

His jaw dropped, "She's pregnant?" He asked. 

I nodded.

An arm went around my waist and someone rested their head on my shoulder "Hey baby, is he bothering you?" The guy kissed my cheek.

It was Luke. "No babe, he isn't. But we should go before he starts." I said. 

Carter stared at me, then him, "Who's this?" He asked. 

Luke turned me around and I thought he was going to kiss me but he just kissed my forehead, "I am her boyfriend. Now run along mutt. You have a pregnant girl to deal with." He said. 

My eyes widened. Oh my God he called him a mutt.

"I-I"

"Save it. " he shooed him away with his hand as me and him walked down the hall. We stopped when we reached the bathrooms.

"Okay who was he?"

"My ex."

"And what'd he do to you?"

"Lied and said he was sick then cheated on me." I don't know why I was telling him this, I just felt comfortable with him.

"Okay then." He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and walked me to Grimm's classroom.

"You're late." He said as we walked in. He stared at Luke's arm around me and i took it off walking over to sit in front of him.

"Yes Mr. Grimm. We know this."

He smiled at me, "Hello Hood."

Luke sat next to me and placed his hand on my thigh. Grimm looked down and his smile went away.

"I want to talk to you two one at a time."

"Okay."

"No thank you." Luke said. "I want to be here when you talk to her."

Grimm narrowed his eyes at him but finally gave up. "Fine. Hood, uhm.. "

"Yes Grimm?"

"I uh—"
