I felt equally perplexed and afraid. There's no way my mother could be here in front of me! I approached her slowly, observing her pallid skin and transparent figure. "Mom..." I utter, "Are you... are you a ghost?" I'm left wondering why it took her so long to reach me.

The ghost whispered, "I trapped my soul in this necklace. Once you put it on, you can see me." She was trapped in the necklace that was underneath my great uncle's floor boards? I don't want to picture what she was forced to see.

I don't say anything, the ghost continues to talk. "I knew the only way to escape Bill Cipher was through death, so I decided to not leave you behind in the process. I discovered a spell that, if I died, would tie me to a particular item. I only had to carry it out. Stan wasn't meant to give you this until you were 16 years old..."

"Mom..." was all I could whisper. I kept from crying as well as unraveling. I just kept staring at her in disbelief. I came to a realization that her father was in the bunker. "Can others see you?" I asked, curious.

"Only if they put on the necklace." She gestured at the locket with a transparent finger. I nod, wondering if I should bother my grandfather about this. He would undoubtedly be thrilled to see his daughter, but what if my mother is against it? What if she preferred to catch up with me?

"Mom?" I start, "Your dad is... your dad is here." My mother's eyes expanded in surprise and hope. I interpret that as her wanting to see him. I enter the hallway and enter the basement while making an effort to keep quiet in case Ford is occupied.

I discover the man dozing off on his desk, face mashed up against a book, with unkempt hair and misaligned spectacles. I gently shake him awake while being conscious of the frazzled ghost behind me. Slowly rising, he gradually straightens himself.

"V-Vickie?" he yawned, "What's wrong?" He observed my facial expression in an effort to foresee what I would say. I simply removed my necklace and handed it to him without saying a word. I observed the man trip and fall. "Vickie... who is that ghost?" he asked me, already knowing the answer himself.

I responded, "That is Amelia Pines." The ghost of my mother was no longer visible to me, but I could hear half of the conversation through Ford. He apologized for leaving before she was born and he looked down ashamedly. Suddenly his expression softened and I realized she must have forgiven him.

As I watch my grandfather's face light up with joy, I smile. My work here is done. I return to my room by making a slow exit. I tuck myself under the blankets and drift off to sleep. Bill didn't keep me up at night, which made me happy.

Stan's screaming woke me up the following morning. I quickly got up and looked out the window to see my great uncle almost in tears about the plight of the Shack. All around was covered with toilet paper and graffiti. Stan seemed to have poked the bear while traveling.

I chuckle as I shake my head. I pull my head back inside and notice my necklace is on my nightstand. Ford probably placed it there after he finished speaking with my mother. As soon as I placed it around my neck, her spirit appeared next to me.

"Good morning," I smiled at her, wondering what Ford and her had discussed. Unfortunately, I don't want to invade her privacy.

"Morning, my dear," she smiled back and I entered the gift shop to welcome my family home in my pajamas.

"So. Prank war with the other attraction owners again?" I asked Stan, pointing outside where the mess was the worst. They taped Soos to the ceiling for around three days the previous year.

Stan muttered a few obscenities beneath his breath, but not loudly enough for the twins to hear. "It wasn't a prank war. It was a GREAT BATTLE!" he expresses, going on and on about the history he was with the other attraction owners. I rolled my eyes and pretended to listen, as if I hadn't heard this spiel before.

When he was done, I was finally free to leave the conversation. I approached Dipper, who appeared to be a little dejected. "How was the trip? Was it everything you wanted it to be?" I teased him, noticing his arms are covered in blue marks.

"Eh. Got rejected by a bunch of girls at once and fought a human spider," he responded nonchalantly. I would be surprised but Oregon is a pretty weird place, more so in Gravity Falls.

"Sounds about right," I nod my head. Next, I cast a quick glance Stan's way, who is still lamenting his Shack. "How many individuals did he cheese off this time?"

"Oh... around 15 to 20. Give or take, depending if the whole family that owns 'Upside Down World' was home or not," Dipper shrugged.

"That's a new record," I chuckle, recalling that he only pissed off 7 people last year.

From on top of the counter behind me, Mabel jumped on my back, causing me to almost lose my balance. She grips me tightly as I readjust to the extra weight. "Hi, Vickie!" she smiles at me, braces visible.

I chuckled, slightly amused. "Hey Mabel. You almost knocked me over like a bowling pin," I tell her.

She gasped, "Oooh! I want to go bowling!" She leaped from my back and pulled Stan's sleeve., "Stan! Can we go bowling?"

Stan shook his head, "Absolutely not. As much as I would love to, we have to clean this all up." He handed her a mop. "Dipper, go scrap the graffiti off of the roof," he demanded.

"Aw man," Dipper sighed.

Looking over to her cousin's child, my mother's ghost giggled.

"And Vickie, I want you to pick up all of the toilet paper!" Stan glared at me.

I grumbled and ventured forth into the scorching sun with a ghost trailing behind me.
