Spencer

Spencer Reid woke up and the first thing he did was reach for his girlfriend Skye, but his hand landed on an empty bed, and it was cold, meaning that she had been up for a while, he opened his eyes and sat up in bed. He wiped the sleep from his eyes as he took in the quiet apartment, which struck him as strange since Skye was always moving around, making coffee or breakfast or both, but it was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.

Spencer got up and walked into the kitchen, the lights were off, and the curtains were still closed, which caused him to furrow his brow knowing that was very unusual. He then walked back into the bedroom and noticed that things were pulled out and clothes were kind of thrown around like someone left in a hurry.

That just confused Spencer even more as he once again made his way into the kitchen turning on the lights he then saw a folded piece of paper on the table and walked over to it, and he recognized his name written on the outside in Skye's handwriting.

Spence,

God, I didn't think that it would ever come to this but seems I was wrong cause here we are, and I really hate that I have to do this, but I don't have a choice right now, and I am so sorry I never wanted to hurt you and I know that this is going to crush you...

And no this is nothing that you did, that was the cause of this happening, you see I've hidden things from you, things about my past that I thought I was free of but turns out I was wrong, god I shouldn't have even opened the stupid door... when I met you that day, I was running from my past, I never expected that day would have been the best day of my life... you Spencer Reid are truly the best thing that ever happened to me... you saved me that day you saved me from myself, I was spiraling and in a pretty dark place, but you brought light into my darkness that day and I will forever be grateful for that... but my past has caught up to me tonight, and I have to leave you, even though I really didn't want to, but it was for your own good... I just want you to know that I'm protecting you by doing this and that I love you more than anything and that I would do anything to make sure that nothing happens to you.

And please Spence, do not come looking for me because odds are you won't find me, and it honestly would just make things worse, so please don't.

And If Matty comes by like he planned to he was supposed to come and meet you today, tell him that I love him, please.

I don't have much longer but Spence I love you so much, just never forget okay I have to go now.

Spencer wiped the tears from his face with a crestfallen look as he reread the letter again, he noticed the tear-stained page where she sighed her name.

Nothing was making sense to him at that moment, he wondered why she had never told him about whatever it was that made her up and leave in the middle of the night like that.

Spencer was broken out of his thoughts by a knock at the door, he tried to pull himself together a little before he opened the door to reveal Matthew Montgomery, aka Matty Skye's older brother.

The man immediately knew something was wrong, "What's going on?"

Spencer knew that his voice was going to be a little shaky from the tears, but he spoke as calmly as he could, "Skye's gone."

Matty furrowed his brow at that, "what do you mean?"

Spencer let him into the apartment, "She wasn't here when I woke up, it was strangely quiet in here, and then I found this." he held the letter out for the older man.

Matty grabbed it and read over it before handing it back to Spencer, "I see, I will do everything in my power to make sure she's found, she only said for you not to go looking for her... I swear I will not stop until my sister is brought home safe."

Spencer nodded at him, "I just don't understand why she felt like she needed to hide whatever it was that spooked her so much that she disappeared in the middle of the night from me... it would not have made me look at her any differently."

Matty sighed knowing how his little sister is, "Skye even when we were kids has always been the one to want to handle things on her own unless she absolutely needs help, and you probably gave her a sense of security that made her not want to drudge up the past and believe me even though I don't know all the details I do know that it's not pretty... I'll find her, Spencer, no matter how long it takes."

Spencer nodded at him, he believed Matty would do everything he could to find Skye, that was really not the way he had thought that he would meet Skye's brother in person for the first time and his head was spinning just a bit with the events that had transpired he just hoped that Skye would come home. He wished she would have told him, that maybe if she had he could have helped her in some way.

That just solidified his decision to apply to join the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI, he had been thinking about it for a while now and was truthfully going to bring it up to Skye to see what she thought about the idea.

He wanted to help people, to try and keep other people from feeling the helpless feeling that he feels right now. He really did not like this feeling, knowing that there was nothing that he could do that would make the situation any better. Matty spoke to him a little more before he left the apartment, he was getting started with his search for his sister as soon as he could.
