CHAPTER 3

FINDING A JOB
Haneul's pov
The sound of my phone ringing woke me up. I groaned, stretching my arm searching for it when I finally find it,I answered the call,not bothering to check the caller

"Haneul,how are you feeling?"I heard my best friend friendly voice

"Good evening to you Lucas"I said completely ignoring his question

"Yeah, good evening I asked a question" he said
I rolled my eyes at him "am fine dad"

"That's good,hope those witches are not hurting you"
I smiled "no"

"Good, remember call me when you need help. I don't mind kicking their...."

I cut him off "bye Lucas I have to go prepare dinner"
I got off my bed,went down stairs to the kitchen. I found Mrs Helena standing next to one of the maid. I made my way pass them and started preparing the necessary ingredients for dinner.

When I was done,Mrs Helena walked up to me and requested to see what I have prepared
"Good, you finally did something right"she told me dryly, looking at the pot of chicken soup
My face showed relieve immediately she said that
"Why are you still standing here, set the table" she shrieked
Oh j almost messed up again
"Yes ma,I will right away"I replied

"You can't do your job without rememberance"
I looked down scared "am sorry,it would happen again ma"
"It better not"she screamed at me
"It's won't happen again" I saw in a low tone

I immediately went to prepare the dinner table, I left as soon as I am done. By 8:00pm the whole family came down for dinner,I stayed in the kitchen waiting for them to be done eating in hope for some leftovers.
After sometime,I was called to the dinner hall to clean it up,I took the plates and cups away. The left little food on their plates.

I ate the little leftovers,"half bread is better than none". I headed to my room after dinner few minutes later, someone Suddenly came into my room without knocking
"Mr Colombo ask for your presence"Mrs Helena said glaring at me and left slamming the door

"What have I done now"
It took me a minute to understand that I might not survive what is coming for me. I stood up from my bed and went down stairs, every one was here. I swallowed "you asked for me"

Mr Colombo was sitting on the sofa Along side my mother and Ethan.
"I think, it's time for you to start paying us bAck for all we have done for you"he sneered

"I don't understand sir"I looked at my feet

"You stupid boy,go get a job and pay us back all the money we wasted on you"Ethan yelled at me

"Get a job?" They never let me leave the house and now they want me to get a job?.
"Have you suddenly gone deaf?" My asked me. I shook my head No

"You have two days to pay up the money"my step dad then walked out of the sitting room leaving me with Ethan and my mom
"Just so you know,if you don't pay up we will kick you out" my mom adding walking away . Ethan suddenly got up and walked up to me

"Awww you poor thing nobody loves your ugly ass" he laughed while I silently cried
His patience must has reached it's peak because he throw a punch at me,I fall on the floor with a loud thud
"Slut"he spat on my face and left. I sat on the floor crying and wishing to die. After some time, I got off the floor beside I need a job as soon as possible or am dead. I sadly went back to my room
"What do I do now"

I woke up feeling my head and face heavy due to the punch and crying. Usually I woke up early than this and I was always tried. I got up slowly and went in search for my phone . I found it and immediately called Lucas after few rings , he picked up

"Hey lucas I need help"I went straight to the point

" What happened?"
"Hmm my step dad wants me to get a job and I don't know where to search"I said casually,am actually excited to get a job

"Get a job? Why? They don't let you out of the house but suddenly they want you to get a job" he asked suspicious

"They went me to pay back the money they wasted on me" Lucas laughed sarcastically

"Money? What money? You and I both know that they haven't sent a cent on you"

"I Know but already they give me food and shelter"I tried reasoning with him

"Food? Shelter? Curse that naive and innocent heart of yours. Your room as the same size as a store room and you survive on leftovers bro stop lying" Lucas said dryly

"Well at least, I can leave the house now free from their assaults " I said trying to make the situation less tensed

"Ugh you must always see the positive sides. Final I will help you get a job"I smiled "thanks Lucas"

"Of course, you are my best friend" he cheerfully said

"Come over to my place and then we will search together" he added
"Ok" I nodded.

"So what about aurora? He sneered
I suddenly felt down" she broke up with me"

Lucas sighed "I want to laugh at you but I can't. I told you that girl was just using you"

"Yeah, she was after my brother" I sadly said

"Can't say am surprised. Don't feel sad bro trust me someone will love and cherish you very soon" we talked for some time before hanging up.

Honestly, am so hyped for tomorrow. I feel like something good will come from this
"I can't wait" I got off my bed excited time for breakfast.
