I put on my finest dress as Catelyn did my hair. She placed small azalea flowers in the bun of my hair that matched my dress.
"It seems you are ready, your grace" she said. I smiled as i saw myself in the mirror. "I don't feel like myself. I feel... Different" i said. "You look different, your grace... In a good way of course."
I laughed at her kind words. Suddenly, Catelyn turned me towards her as she looked me up and down. "When was the last time you bled, your grace?" she asked.
"I don't know... Why?" i questioned. She put her hand to my chest as i laughed and pushed her off. "What are you doing?!" i exclaimed. "I believe you are with child, your grace."
My smile faded with shock. "What?" i mumbled. "Did someone not... Explain how you know when you are with child?" she asked. I shook my head as she smiled softly.
"Well, i'm glad i am here to tell you. No wine this evening, it may harm the babe" she said. I shuffled uncomfortably in my chair as she held my hand.
"I am here, your grace. I'll be here every step of the way. And i feel i am compelled to tell you that when you have a child, it does not matter who the father is or if they are kind or cruel. The only thing that matters is that you'll never be alone again. My children are my joy. And my anger sometimes... But mostly my joy."
"You don't speak of your children often" i said. "Some lords and ladies find it insulting for a handmaiden to tell them about their personal life" she said.
"You have five children, is that right?" i asked. "Yes, your grace. Three are my husbands... And two i... Fleabottom is dangerous. Drunken men are even more dangerous. And since my husband died, i have been left without protection" she said.
I frowned as i realised her meaning. "But i love them all the same. I have two sons, Sam and Edgar. And three girls, Diana, Rosaline... And Azalea" she mumbled. My head shot up. "Azalea?" i questioned.
"Yes, your grace" she said. "You never told me you called your daughter Azalea" i said. "My apologies, your grace. I should have told you" she said as she hung her head. "No, no! I didn't mean... I'm honoured, Catelyn" i said giving her a big smile.
"She's my youngest. Though she was not brought into this world with the happiest of circumstances... She is happy now. And i believe she has your strength and your kindness" she said. My smile grew bigger with every word she spoke.
I embraced the woman tightly as she embraced me back. "I'd love to meet them" i said. "And perhaps one day you will. But for now, you have a wedding to get to" she said.
"Oh gods, your right" i said standing up. "It completely slipped my mind. Where in the seven hells is Daemon?" i mumbled under my breath.
As i spoke, Daemon burst into the room with a cocky smile on his face. "Your grace" Catelyn said giving Daemon a bow. She squeezed my hand and gave me a small smile as she left the room.
"Are you ready?" i asked. "I'm more than ready" he said. It worried me how happy Daemon was. "Please ruin this night for Rhaenyra. I'm guessing she's already shitting herself. Let's not make her feel worse" i said.
Daemon rolled his eyes and put out his arm. "Come on, we're already late enough as it is" he said. "You did not answer me" i said taking his arm in mine. "No i did not" he said with a smirk.
As the two of us walked to the great hall, i could already hear the festivities. People clapping, King Viserys making speeches and music. But when Daemon and i stood in the large doorway, everyone went silent. The only thing that could be heard was Maegor frustrated grunts.
Many rumours about our stale marriage spread around the castle, and since we have not been seen just the two of us together since our wedding day, everyone was shocked.
