|Hailey's POV|
I just did that. I slammed the door in his face. I didn't let him talk, why didn't I let him talk! I scolded myself. My cheeks were wet, but I had stopped crying by now. I couldn't stop thinking about Jake's stupid face, standing at the door with a devastated look on his face. I just wished that I had talked to him.
"Who was that?" Zander asked from behind me. I slowly turned around, and when he saw my tear stained face and red eyes, he gasped.
"Hailey!" Luke gasped, now next to Zander who had a furious look on his face.
"It was Jake, wasn't it! The nerve of that as*hole!" Zander seethed, his hands balled up into fists. Another sob escaped from my throat and I ran towards Zander and hugged him. He hugged me back, patting my head, with Luke joining in a moment after. I pulled back and wiped my eyes, sniffling.
"Thank you Zander, I'm okay now." I assured him, trying to force Jake out of my mind, but failing time and time again. Zander gave me a sympathetic look and turned around disappearing into the hallway with Luke trailing after. I dragged myself to my room, forcing myself to be angry at poor Jake- no! He did not deserve any pity! I balled up my hands into fist and squeezed them tight. I collapsed back onto my bed, where I had started. I picked up my phone once again, and opened up Messages. I clicked on Jake's contact which I had previously blocked out of anger, and I unblocked him. I typed in a quick message and read it over, debating on whether to send it. I kept trying to stall myself, and asking myself, What's the weather? Which would lead me to searching it up. I took a deep breath and exhaled. I knew I had to send it now, or I never would.
C'mon, Hailey! Send it! Don't you want to see him again? I pushed myself, and I tapped the send button.

|Jake's POV|I was sitting at my dining table when I heard my phone 'bing'.
Who is that? I wondered, then immediately frowned. It couldn't have been anyone from the music club since they were still furious at me, and it couldn't have been Mom or Dad because they were still at work. And Milo didn't even have a phone. So that left only a few people. The Jomies. I groaned and picked up my phone, taking another bite of the peach that was in my hand. I opened Messages and clicked on the group chat labeled, The Jomies. No recent texts. I twisted my face in confusion, wondering who else it could be. I quickly checked Mom and Dad's contacts to find that the most recent text was yesterday. I scanned all of my contacts, and at the end of the list was Hailey. She had recently blocked me, so I was confused when I clicked on her contact and saw that she had texted me a new message:
🫐Hailey🫐
🫐Hailey🫐 recently unblocked you.
🫐Hailey🫐: Hi, Jake. I'm sorry for the way I treated you, I was just very mad. If you want to, we can go get ice cream together?
I blinked at the message in amazement. Did she really want to hang out again? I immediately began typing a response, trying to choose the right words.
Jake: Hi, Hailey. I'd luv to do that!
I debated on whether I should add 'Princess' to the end, and thought against it, deciding it was to early. I almost immediately got a response from her:
🫐Hailey🫐: That's great! See you there, Sterling.
I sighed in relief. She believed me! She knew I was sorry, and she wanted me to hang out with her again. I knew it would be a long time before the other members forgave me, but at least I had Hailey.
And she was the best thing I could have.
