|Hailey's POV|

This should have felt normal. Just like hanging out with the music club, but this- this felt different. Special. I had no idea why hanging out with Jake felt so weird, but exciting at the same time. He had asked me if I wanted to hang out after school at lunch that day, and I immediately agreed. I was now getting ready, furiously brushing my hopelessly tangled hair. I somehow managed to get it under control, and quickly changed. I wore a a light blue shirt with long sleeves tucked into black leather skirt. I slipped into some brown boots and looked into the mirror.

(This is what her outfit looked like btw)

I pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear and smiled. I grabbed my phone and walked out the front door, closing it behind me as I stepped down the stairs. Just ahead of me was a small, white, car, with Jake sitting in the driver's seat, waving. I quickly walked to the car, opened the passenger seat's door, and sat down.

"Hey, Hailey!" Jake said while starting the car. "So before we go, I just have one question." I nodded to him, indicating for him to ask.

"Why do you take so long to get ready?" I gasped to his question, mockingly offended. I punched his arm jokingly as he cracked up in laughter. He pulled back the stick shift and we started to head towards Rosy's Boba House, talking and laughing on the way. After 10 minutes, we finally arrived. I stepped out of the car and stretched my stiff limbs, and entered the boba house. Jake followed after, accidentally slamming into the door I hadn't kept open for him. I giggled as he groaned, earning a smile from him. I walked to the counter, waiting for the cashier to lift her head. After a few moments, she did.

"What can I get for you, ma'am?" She asked as her dark blue fell back from her face. I skimmed the menu, trying to find a flavor that piqued my interest. Jake sighed and walked to the counter.

"I'll just have a Peachy Breeze Boba, and she'll have a Blueberry Blast." He said, earning an offended look from me. "Oh, c'mon, Hailey. Let's be honest, you soundly have been able to decide."

I scoffed, crossing my arms. He smiled back at me, shaking his head. The blue-haired cashier glanced at both us, looking bored.

"Oh, I get it. Is this a date? We can give you one drink and two straws." She offered.

"W-what?! No, no, we're not a couple." I stated, flustered. My face must have been as red as a tomato, because so was Jake's, and somehow, his face turned an even brighter red when he glanced at me. The cashier shrugged and began preparing our orders. After a few minutes, they were ready, and we began to drink our boba, after paying of course. We chose a table and started talking, just about random stuff like school, our lives at home, and somehow, we started talking about our love lives. As we were nearing the end of our drinks, we exited the boba house, trashing the empty cups.

"So... have anything remotely interesting going on in your love life?" He awkwardly asked. I shrugged as we entered the car, sat down, then fastened my seatbelt. He started the car and we began to head back to my house.

"So... what would you do... if you liked someone, and you didn't know if they liked you, and you wanted to confess to them, but you didn't know if they liked you?" He blurted, blushing furiously.

"I- I don't know..." I responded, feeling my heart shatter into a million pieces.

What was I expecting?! He likes someone! I screamed inside my head, trying to keep my voice from cracking on the outside.

"I guess... I would just confess to them. Just go for it." I said, trying to give him my best advice, ignoring the pain piercing my heart.

"Maybe..." He sighed. We finally pulled up at my house and I exited the car. I was towards the entrance of my house, holding back tears, when I felt a soft, gentle hand grab mine. I turned around to see Jake, looking straight into my eyes and blushing like crazy.

"I just... I know that there are so many girls who would want to date me. But I want someone who loves me for me. Not just someone who thinks... I'm like, hot or something."

"And I know I like Daisy, but it's so obvious that she and Sean like each other. That leaves me with no one." He lowered his head, closing his eyes. I hesitantly placed my hand on his arm.

"Jake... you deserve someone to love. No matter what happens, remember that you'll find someone to love." I hugged him, then pulled back. Suddenly, I felt something. It felt like a magnet, pulling us together. We inched closer and closer to each other until our faces were about 2 inches away from each other's. And then... I backed away. I backed away. My stupid mind decided to back away from that moment, leaving poor Jake crushed with a devastated look on his face.

"Well... thanks for hanging out with me. I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I whispered, then turned around and hurriedly entered my house. I closed the door and rubbed my forehead, sitting down in the nearest chair.

He- he likes me. And I REJECTED HIM. I screamed in my mind. You idiot! I screamed out loud, knowing that no one was home at the moment. Tears of frustration started pouring down my face like a waterfall. They suddenly stopped and I let out a sigh.

"I love him so freaking much."
