Brook ran his hands through his hair, a frantic expression on his face.

"I thought he was with you guys, wha—I saw him cross the railway!" He clamored.

"He did, and then he vanished!" Paige explained in a rush. "We didn't know he wasn't following us until we got home—that's when we turned around and found his car wasn't behind us."

"Why would he leave just like that?" Michelle asked worriedly. "Didn't he say where he was going or why—?"

"No, nothing," Leslie said in despair. "We tried calling him on our earpieces and the radio but there's no answer."

"Did you track his car?" Brook asked quickly.

"I tried," Jett said, "but it kept popping on and off the radar. Last it was seen before it disappeared on my tracker a few minutes ago. That can happen if he's driving through a dead zone or..." he trailed off, looking bleak.

"Or if his car is totaled with the tracker," Payton said, clenching his fists. Brook turned and punched the garage door in his frustration, letting out a roar.

"Argh! No sooner we get rid of one problem, another one crops up. Why the heck did the chief have to go and do this to us?!"

"We're still working on tracking the last known location of his car," Reece said, hoping to pacify Brook with that information. "At least if we find that—"

"Where was it?" Brook asked at once.

"The old Stetson tunnel near the abandoned Rafford Mall," Jett replied, "But it's too dangerous to go there, the place is practically falling apart—" Brook didn't listen to another word but grabbed his keys and headed back to his car, issuing orders as he took charge.

"Payton, Reece, you guys are with me. We're going to check out the Stetson tunnel."

"Brook, you're not actually going!" Michelle asked in a panic. He turned to her for a moment, pulled her into a hug, and kissed her forehead.

"I have to, Michelle, you know that," he said softly to her, stress furrowing his eyebrows. "I'll be back soon as we find the chief." Michelle bit her lip, longing to tell him not to go but knowing he would anyway—the chief was both family and a father-figure to him and nothing could stop Brook from going after him. And it wasn't like she wasn't worried about the chief too.

"Be safe," she whispered to Brook, squeezing his hand before he got into his car.

"You too, babe, don't get yourself in trouble or I'll have to come bail you out," Paige said with concern to Payton, giving him a kiss on the lips. Payton gave a grim smile.

"Trust me, Brook's the one who gets into trouble. That's why I'm going to keep him out of it."

"We'll be back alive and well, don't you girls worry," Reece said, and Michelle gave him a quick hug too.
