briar had always had a love for danger. she and her friends had a ritual in high school in which they would stand as close as they possibly could to the train tracks (without being hit, obviously), and watched the trains whizz right past their young faces. she was the person who initiated every dangerous move they made, whether is was jumping off cliff faces or climbing up the tallest trees in the forest, she thrived in dangerous situations. unfortunately, as she grew up, her opportunities to do such dangerous activities without getting very odd looks from dog-walkers fizzled out, and instead she was stuck behind a desk as a receptionist for grady memorial hospital. don't get her wrong, she adored her job, but she adored practically throwing herself off of buildings more.

one day, whilst she was working, officer shane walsh walked in, holding the hand of his partner, rick grimes. the paramedics shouting orders at the nurses running toward the ambulance bay. her eyes widened in shock before ordering the staff to a bed, making sure that they got there correctly before sitting back down at her desk. she chewed at her nails, concerned for the officer. she wasn't friends with him, very, very far from it, but she couldn't help but be concerned for the man. it was who she was.

shane had walked out of the place that rick was at, holding his head in his hands as he thumped down into an uncomfortable chair in the waiting room. she frowned at him - she was fond of him. they had a few conversations when they had taken in some people that were in custody before, and his sense of humor had never failed to make her day just a little brighter.

she had hoped that he would be okay, both shane and rick.
