daryl, glenn, t-dog and rick had ended up leaving to go back into atlanta, glenn insisting briar shouldn't come after the danger she had already been in the day prior, her incessant nagging not swaying his decision at all. so instead, she was sat at the side of the water with the rest of the women, washing some clothes.

"i'm starting to see where the weight is being pulled here," jaqui says while looking at shane playing with carl in the shallow water and ed smoking a cigarette a few feet away from the women. the rest of the woman nodded, humming in agreement while continuing to wash the fabric.

"i sure do miss my old maytag," carol sighed, looking dreamily into the distance. the rest of the woman started to list off things that they missed the most since the shitshow begun.

"i miss my coffee maker,"

"i miss my cellphone,"

"i miss cookie dough," briar sighed, the women giggling slightly at her immaturity.

"i miss my vibrator," andreas comment set the girls into a fit of loud laughter as carol leaned close to the middle of the circle they were sitting in.

"me too," she whispered, the ladies laughing even harder. ed spun around. storming over. "now, what's to damn funny, huh?"

"just swapping old war stories, ed." andrea lied, the woman hiding there smiles behind items of clothing or their hands, ed believing none of it.

"uh-uh, sure. carol, come on now. now!" he bit her head off on the last word as carol and the rest of the women stood up, some holding carol back and briar and andrea stood in front of the overweight man, the man looking down mockingly at the two.

"why don't you just back off, ed? go smoke another cigarette or something," briar said, crossing her arms over her chest. ed scoffed and grabbed carols arm, briar pushing him back as he took an intimidating step toward carol, slapping her across the face. briar had had enough.

she took a step toward ed, shoving him to the ground and dragging him by his ankle away from the women. she stood over him, punching across the face repeatedly. she had seen red.

"you think it's cool abusing women huh?" she whispered, holding his neck that was attached to his limp head that was swollen and bruising. his mouth tried to speak, the words coming out in splutters and muttering. shane had rushed down, pulling briar back slightly, but she gave one last kick to his ribs before storming away, pushing shane's arms away from her, "get the fuck off of me."

briar had adrenaline rushing through her as she stomped her way up to camps, ignoring the concerned stares at her and her bloody and bruised knuckles. the shaking woman grabbed her bow and small collection of makeshift arrows before going into the forest, needing space from society for a while.

since daryl had gone off into the city, she had taken it upon herself to go into the woods and hunt for the group. she knew it would take time, but she'd do fine.

it had been a few hours since she had left and briar had a small collection of birds, squirrels and rabbits. she was proud of herself for being able to hunt so well, considering she hadn't done it in a very long time. she made her way back to camp, the sun setting and bouncing off of the lake, creating a beautiful view. she put down the animals in a pile close to the fire before going into the RV to wash off her still bloody knuckles. she looked at herself in the mirror - her hair was disheveled and messy, her bun falling off her head and into a mess at the back of her head. her face had flecks of dirt and a splatter of dried blood on her right cheek. her muscles ached and her tan was painful due to the georgian heat. she washed her face and left the bathroom, putting her cap on securely.
