after a few days, briar was finally allowed out of the small room that she considered hell. maggie, glenn, and beth were in there with her everyday to keep her company, though, so she didn't mind all too much. she was sat eating eggs beside glenn, who was fidgeting in his seat and looking awfully guilty. she looked at him, confused as to why he was acting this way. he made eye contact with a pissed off maggie who was standing on the front porch, before he stood up and announced to the group.

"the barn is full of walkers." briar stopped eating to look up at the boy in shock before turning to her maggie who visibly scoffed and stormed inside the house, the door shaking as she slammed the door. he sat back down, taking off his cap and rubbing his head before putting it back on and refusing to make eye contact with anybody.

"you just blew it, loverboy. you're a fucking idiot, you know that?" glenn rolled his eyes at briar before standing up and walking toward the door that maggie had just closed. the group surrounding briar all begun to yell, shane deciding he would be superman and ran to the barn. briar sighed and stood up, following behind him slowly as to not completely rip her stitches open. the bald man walked up to the barn, looking inside through a small crack in the door before moving backwards and rubbing his head, his mind seeming to be elsewhere. shane had turned around and begun to argue with the group, rick pushing him back and insisting that he would talk to hershel and to not do anything irrational. briar stood further back from the group, before turning around and walking back towards the farmhouse that maggie was in.

she walked into the farmhouse, finding a pissed off hershel a few feet away. she decided not to get involved with whatever family problems he had, instead walking up the stairs to maggie's room that she was always jealous of as a child. the room was huge, and had multicolored flowers painted onto the walls. briar had to share with her brother, so she was never able to have a room as grand as hers. she knocked on the closed door, hearing a meek 'come in'. maggie was stood away from the door, her back turned from her friend as she looked out of the large window that faced the barn. briar walked behind her, rubbing her tensed shoulders as maggie sighed. "why do i bother? i never should've trusted him." briar sighed, looking at maggie's face which was screwed up in anger.

"i know, mags. he was just looking out for the group. he didn't mean-" maggie cut her off with a harsh glare before she could continue her sentence. the silence between the two brunette grew to be more and more awkward before briar sighed and just decided to give her peace.

briar had stepped outside of the house to chaos

briar had stepped outside of the house to chaos. hershel, rick, and beth's boyfriend, jimmy, had gone out for an unknown reason and the slightly stubbled shane decided to take up the role as leader. he was pacing in a small circle, ranting about the walkers that were still yet to be dealt with, his hand repeatedly rubbing his bald head. "shane, shut the fuck up, you're giving us all a damn headache," the former police officers eyes lit up in flames, scoffing and ignoring her presence.  "we need to stop worrying about a little girl who's gone!" carols eyes began to tear, her lip quivering. she knew that her daughter was probably gone, but she still had hope. and she didn't want shane to take that away from her. the man continued to yell and wave his arms around erratically before a metal pole in the distance catching his eye.

rick and hershel both had walkers in a trap, and were leading them straight toward them. "what the hell.." shane's feet instantly began to thump along the ground as he sprinted toward the trio of boys, briar deciding that taking it easy wasn't the best option right now and ran right behind him, her gun belt hitting against her thigh. "what the hell do you think you're doin'?"

hershel and shane begun to argue, the older man insisting that they were really still people. "if this thing was a person, could they come back from this?" the crazy man sent off a round into the walkers chest, the dead geek not flinching and continued to snarl and try to grab at thin air. "that's it's heart, it's lungs. why is it still comin'?" he sent off another three rounds into the walkers chest.

"shane! that's enough!" for once, briar had to agree with rick. he was drawing unnecessary attention toward the farm, and the walkers in the barn continued to grow more agitated as their distorted hands banged against the doors, some fingertips reaching through the small gap.

"yeah, you're right man. that is enough." a final round was shot off into the head of the walker, sending the walker down and hershel with it. maggie and beth ran over to their father, comforting his heartbroken soul. rick and shane continued to go back and forth, the group surrounding them pleading their argument to come to an end. the latter decided that he had enough, walking towards the barn and taking his gun to the lock that chained the doors together, banging on the doors and opening them to allow the walkers entry into the world. he stood slightly back, taking a stance and began to shoot at the walkers who began to emerge from the darkness of the barn. t-dog, andrea, and daryl looked conflicted for a few moments before deciding to join in to protect the group. briar and glenn stood next to each other, making quick eye contact with both of their eyes looking conflicted also. briar sighed, looking at the greene family who looked on in distraught as their closest friends and family begun to appear from the barn. she took out her pistol, cocking it back before putting a bullet that seemed to be loaded with guilt into her old friend, shawn's, forehead. the cries of maggie and beth only grew louder. the shots continued to pour onto the walkers, glenn inevitably joining in, before the gunshots ceased and the silence grew. the group stood in silence for a few moments, the only noise being the greene's cries.

until a small growl came from the barn.

sophia came out from the shadows. briar believed that her mind was playing tricks on her, and that it was all just a figment of her imagination. until her large bite mark on her left shoulder was shown in the sunlight, and carol had realised who it was. "sophia? sophia!" carol cried, falling to the floor in daryl's arms. briar stood, gulping slightly, before tears ripped through her eyes and dared to spill over her onto her freckled cheeks. her legs stayed glued to the floor as she attempted to convince herself that this wasn't real. her growls grew, as she tilted her head and begun to walk slowly toward the group.

none of them dared to move, until rick walked toward the small girl and send a bullet into her head, looking to the floor in sorrow after doing so.
