please

stop screaming

false

perfections

in her ear.

she's only a

child,

she shouldn't

be worried about what

she looks

like.

she should be worried

about

tracking

mud in the house.

yet

her mind is consumed

with

the thought

of becoming perfect.

skinny.

pretty.

kind.

popular.

everything she is not.

in her head,

she needs to be that

and

more to be loved.

she needs

to be perfect

before

she can ever love

or be loved.

can't she just

be left

alone when she eats?

can't she smile at her

reflection?

instead of

scowling at her

imperfections.

can she?

she wishes

she

could,

but she can't stop

hating herself.

she can't stop

destroying

herself

until every little

bit of

her real

self

is gone.

because she needs to

be perfect.

or at least

that's what she's led

to

believe.
