she looked down
at
her plate full
of food.
her stomach
churned, but she had
to stay strong.
"i will be skinny
i will be skinny
i will be skinny,"
she continued
to
chant the mantra
as she
picked apart the broccoli
with
her fork.
she ate
one bite.
her family was a-buzz
with
energy and
talk, they never noticed
never even
glanced over at
her when
she dumped out her
food into
the trash.
she said goodnight
as she headed
up
the stairs
to the bathroom.
throwing up
that
one bite,
her body frail
and
weak,
she leaned against
the
tub.
"just repeat
tomorrow, you'll be
skinny
soon."
she thought as
she
washed the
sour taste
out of her mouth.
