Chapter 3: Older brother

Yuki POV

4 years have passed by and everything has been the same so far.

Yuki: It's so cold!

Mother: I know I'm sorry Yuki but it's part of the tradition and it will help you.

Yuki: How did father survive this as a kid

Father: I whined and complained as much as you have been doing. But look now I have become a Hashira

He let out a booming laugh and Mother and I just gave him a blank stare and he quickly quieted down.

Father: I um anyways where are the twins?

Yume: Right here papa!

Taichi: It's cold

Father: Ah there are my four year olds how are you two

Yume: IM GREAT!

Taichi: Cold

Mother: Come here Taichi let's bundle you up more

Taichi: Okay mama

Yume: Is the Rengoku family coming today?

Father: No they are coming next week, Yuki how would you like to start your training next week as well?

I smiled at him and got excited then started to nod my head towards him. Kenji gave me a thumbs up and smiled too.

Kenji: You're going to do intense training so get ready for that.

Yuki: Just cause you're twelve and I'm eight doesn't mean anything

I crossed my arms glaring at him and he gave me a smirk, then flicked my forehead.

Kenji: Mhm well we will have to see who will be fathers successor in the future

Father: Hold on I never said any of  you would be my successors, being a Hashira is very difficult and can be dangerous

Kenji: If you can do it so can we *Grins*

Father: We will have to see

A few days later

Father took me with him every time he helped with Kenji's training I took mental notes and looked at my father and Kenji swinging their swords

Kenji: Father when do I get my Nichirin sword?

Father: You get it after the final selection but you are still not ready for that, maybe by next year you can.

Kenji: Aw

Father: The final selection is quite difficult not many make it out alive, so I wanna have you in the best shape.

Kenji: Right!

Father kept showing Kenji techniques and then eventually stopped.

Father: Okay that's enough training I'll go back home and check on your mother to see if she needs help with the twins. You two go catch fish from the nearby river and come before nightfall.

Yuki: Okay Father

Kenji: Yes father

We saw him speed off but then it hit us that it was winter meaning the lake was most likely to be frozen.

Kenji: Well we got to get fish somehow

I nodded in agreement, and we started to walk towards the river. As we walked Kenji and I talked about funny memories we both had.
