~January~
I watch sitting lonely on a cushioned couch watching passively as dancing bodies wiggle about in the small room the pungent smell of alcohol and sweat reeking in the air.
You must be wondering what I am doing here in this teen frat party on new years night and it is one word, two syllables and the source of all my anguish.
Mina.
She thought it would be absolutely brilliant if we went to a New Years party. She said something about having a highschool experience and having fun.
Yeah, yolo.
So after losing a game of pathetic twister-which I lost in two seconds flat because Mina landed on top of me saying that she wasn’t out because she didn’t land on the floor- I was dragged out of house and forced to watch the animals.
A tipsy girl with her makeup running streaks through the living room as I shudder at the image of toilet paper messily wrapped about her, her eyes blood shot.
Just I sigh heavily a girl with a French braid and a shirt way to low for my liking plops down beside me giggling about tigers and crap, her slurred speech making me roll my eyes.
“Hi,” She burps, her face close to mine. I recoil, standing up quickly and trying to shove my way through the mass of bodies forming a compact wall.
“Where are you going?” the girl cries out, giggling hysterically.
I ignore her, pushing a body from my way and not even thinking twice about it. Besides, the person was most likely drunk and wouldn’t remember anything….
I circle the house halls, upper floor and kitchen trying to look for Mina who said she would be back ten minutes ago.
Just as I cross the threshold connect the kitchen and the backyard I hear an undeniable voice.
“Get off of me,” A girl growls out, pressed against the wall as a drunk frat boy laughs.
I come closer, the dim light making it to hard for me to see.
“You’re pretty,” he slurs.
“Don’t even-“ the girls voice is cut off as the frat boy kisses her heavily.
It isn’t until I get closer that I see the inky black hair, the slim frame and the bright green eyes of Mina.
And the drunk boy was kissing her.
Just as I grab the boy’s shoulder, pulling him from Mina, I feel the boy lurch backwards as Mina’s fist connects with his nose.
The sounding noise of a crunch rings out and the boy howls in pain before lunging for Mina.
Hooking my arm around his neck, I twist sharply and throw him to the floor as he gags, blood streaming from his nose.
I look at Mina and Mina looks at me, both of our wide with surprise at what the other just did.
“What are you doing?” We both ask at the same time, accusation clear on both of out faces.
The boy on the ground turns and groans again and Mina returns her attention to him, her raven hair falling slightly into her eyes as she glares murderously at him.
