They all stood in silence for Sandman's burial. The sun has sunk, leaving the mourning moon in its wake.
Candles were around Sandy's stone as the elves gently rang the bells from their hats. The three guardians closed their eyes, giving moments of silence for their dear friend.
Tooth gently set down the last candle on the floor as she stood up, grabbing her friends' hands. They would usually wouldn't with their pride, but knew she wanted their support too.
North looked around, not finding Jack anywhere besides the yetis. He briefly glanced at his office, seeing it slightly open. He frowned worriedly before looking back to the burial.

Jack sat in North's office as he could hear Sandy's burial. He closed his eyes in frustration for not doing enough. It was all his fault. He ignored the incoming heavy steps coming to him and tapped the window as the thin layer of frost was spread around in the shape of Sandy.
"Are you all right?" North asked.
Jack stays silent, only staring at the frosted window. "I just...I just wish I could've done something."
"Done something?" North smiled. "Jack, you stood up to Pitch. You saved us."
"But Sandy wo–"
"Would be proud of what you did." North sternly but gently interrupted him. He placed a hand on Jack's shoulder in comfort.
Jack's eyes glistened in tears as he looks up at the man but closed his eyes as he pulls back his hoodie and stood up.
"I don't know who you were in your past life, but in this life you are Guardian," North stood up too.
Jack frowned, "But how can I know who I am until I find out who I was?"
"You will. I feel it, in my belly," North chuckled at his own joke before looking down at the boy again. "What else is bothering you?"
Jack sighed, sitting back down. "She was there. In front of me while it all happened. Yet, I froze when I was close to her. I couldn't even fight back–"
"It is not your fault, Jack."
"But it is! You guys were right. She's too far gone and can't remember anything or me. She's a stranger to me," Jack frowned, going through his pockets and taking out the silver ring.
It frustrated him immensely that through his friend's death, he couldn't bring himself to hurt her. He has seen her hurt people who get in her way of her children but to take someone's life?
North saw how conflicted he was and closed Jack's hand, hiding the ring. "I'm going to pretend I didn't see that," North joked but later ruffled his hair.
