The Stars

They always interested me. How someone could be attracted to a single flaming ball of gas that shines only during the darkest times. Here I am, a 14-year-old girl, laying on my back in my back-yard with the cool breeze washing over my body. I wonder how many other people are looking at the stars with me? Wondering the same questions as me, with the same dreams and hopes as me?

"Maddy! Are you okay out there?" My mum yelled from inside.

"Yeah, I'm fine! I'll be inside in a few minutes!" I responded.

To be honest, the cold North-Carolina weather wasn't normal to me, seeing I just moved here from Australia. And no, it's not all boomerangs and Kangaroos in our back-garden. Where I come from, Brisbane, it's very similar to New York, except with less buildings. I've been here for a few weeks now, but haven't started school yet. I will be soon.

I started to get cold and decided to move inside. I got up off the grass, dusting off my pants, and looked up at the sky one more time admiring the beauty that is, ultimately, nothing.

I slowly walked inside my house that I shared with my mum and my German Shepard, Husky. Yes, I know that is a stupid name for a dog, especially a different breed to the name, but I was 12 when we bought him as a puppy and couldn't think of a name to give him.

"Dinner's ready. It's on the bench; beef and steamed vegetables. I'm having a shower." Mum pointed towards the bench as she moved upstairs to her bathroom. My life isn't that interesting, seeing I don't have a T.V, I eat steamed vegetables for dinner, seeing we are health-freaks, and have no friends. I'm still surprised I don't have depression. I quickly ate my disgusting dinner and went up to my room to have a shower in my bathroom.

I grabbed my loose Peter Alexander pyjama shorts and shirt, and moved into my bathroom. I quickly got undressed and had a shower, not washing my hair. I eventually got out of the warm shower and got changed, and went into the laundry to put my dirty clothes in the washing machine. I went into my bedroom, having brushed my teeth in the shower, slipped under my warm duvet, switched off the lights and drifted off to sleep, not bothering to say goodnight to my mum.

A/N

Hi!

I would first of all like to thank you, my lovely reader, for reading my first chapter. I have written a book on Wattpad before about Harry Styles, but I kind of moved on and deleted it. I would also apologise for using the word "mum" not "mom", because as I mentioned earlier, I am from Australia. And finally, Hayes and Nash will be introduced in the next chapter, so make sure to read it!

ILY!!

P.S None of the named characters in this story are real, and the storyline is somewhat true, but is not as serious in real life as it is in the story. To anyone who reads my book and their name has been mentioned in it, please know that it has no meaning to you what-so-ever and has no offence to you. I'm sorry if you feel offended by anything that may be said in this book. If you don't like it, don't read it.
