Hayes, Nash and I had a great time at the trampoline park. We went to every section and bought ice-creams from the gift store. Much to our dismay, the 2 hours ended very quickly, us having to leave.
"Bye!" I waved to the lady at the desk as we headed for the front doors, being returned with a smile and a "See you soon!".
Oh yes, I will see them again after today.
We all went around the parking lot of the park, trying to find our car, and finally found it. We all got in, Hayes sitting in the back with me again.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you before. I'm just used to having to throw hard you know?" Hayes said softly, reaching for my arm which had a light, but big bruise.
"No, it's fine. I did the same to my friend, Clelia, once back at home. I play basketball." I explained, the story replaying in my mind.
It was actually the last time we saw each other, since my move. We decided yo have a really fun, memory-filled day to remember. We went too a trampoline park called "Air Factory" which was pretty much the same to "Jump In!" on the inside. We played dodgeball, and I was throwing ball after ball at her, and she ended up fulling face-first onto the sidle-line, wanting to stop because she was laughing so hard. A few days later, she had a bruise above her right hip, but it was fine and would go away in a few days. I'm sure I'm the same.
"Maddy? Are you still on Earth?" I felt Hayes asking me, waving his fingers in-front of my eyes. "How many fingers am I holding up?" He asked, holding up 4 fingers.
"Hayes, I'm fine. I just....... got caught up a little. Honestly...." I lightly laughed, waving his hand out of the way. He quickly moved his hand back down to his lap where his other hand was resting.
We finally pulled up to my home. It's probably gotten 3 degrees warmer, so I decided to wrap my warm, flannel shirt around my waist, not needing it anymore. Hayes and Nash got out of the car, also making sure not to get run over beanie other cars, and came up to me quickly, walking me to my door which was a mere 5 metres away. Strange, but I just brushed it off.
"Thanks you guys.... for taking me today. It was really fun. So... I'll uh, see you soon?" I ask, unlocking the door and putting my bag on the hook by the door.
"Yeah.... Bye!" They both said at the same time as I slowly closed the door.
"By-"
"Wait hold on!" Hayes cut me off, and as I opened the door again, Nash had already started walking over to his car, but was now looking back at me and Hayes.
"Yeah?" I asked, stretching out the word.
"Can I um...... God, this is so embarrassing...... Can I have your number? Just because you're a really nice person and I like you- A FRIEND..... yes a friend is what I meant!" Hayes nervously laughed, scratching his neck. It was kind of cute, watching a boy who was about 16, being nervous.
"Yeah, sure. Hold on." I said, bending over to get the list and pen out of my bag. I turned back to see a really embarrassed Hayes, and a "I'm laughing my ass off, this is so funny!" look on Nash's face. I would be the same if I was in his situation.
I quickly scribbled down my phone-number, having to check my phone because I'm still not used to the phone-numbers here. I checked one last time to make sure it was right, and quickly had to change a number. I tore the number off of the list and handed it to Hayes.
"Thanks. I'll, um, talk to you later." He said, waving.
"Bye!" I smiled, waving back, and closing the door.
I turned around and saw Husky with his ball in his mouth, drooling. He must have found from outside, seeing I thought I had lost it a few days ago when I tried to do a long throw, and just like that, it was gone. Well, not anymore.
"Good job boy! I mean it took you a few days, but good job!" I laughed, rubbing his head and body, making him even more excited that I came home, eventually dropping his ball.
I walked outside, him following me to his dog house at one end of the garden. I threw the ball, not too hard this time because I didn't want it to get lost again. As Husky was trying to find it, I looked over the fence. Our neighbourhood sat on a mountain that over-looked North Carolina, or at least a large part of it. There were a lot of houses, and if I focused enough, I could see people causally walking from one place to another, some maybe getting a coffee, some might be going to work. They all have something to do today, by the looks of it. And if I look to my left, I can see the mountain that curves around the border of North Carolina, and my school on the edge of the mountain. It looks pretty big, but no-where near as big as my old school. It was basically a university campus times 10.
I soon felt a huge lick on the back of my right leg, and turned round to see Husky with the ball in-front of him. I wasn't really up for it today, so I just went inside to get his bone, and bring outside for him. As soon as his eyes caught the bone, he ran over to me, but I made sure to throw the bone over to the right so he didn't push me over, which he has, for the record.
After feeling satisfied that he was going to be occupied for a while, I went back inside and went over to my bag to get my phone. I walked back over to my living room and slowly sat down on the couch, my eyes glued to the screen that had Instagram on it. My heart froze as I saw what was on the screen.
@Cleliaxthorn
@maddystevens00 was one of the best friends I could have ever had, and I thank her for that. RIP my lovely. I'll see you soon xx
And attached to the comment was a picture of me and her hugging at the airport before my flight boarded for America. I actually had it printed and put in a golden frame. It stills sit next to my bed, so I can wake up to it every morning.
RIP? Why does she think I'm dead?
I decided to waste $5 on making an international call to my best friend who thinks I'm dead for some strange reason.
