"Kay, thanks."

I raised my arms as I walked out of my office. A rush of relief washed over me. I was finally free of the stresses of the workday. While I closed the door to my office, the aroma of bread and delectable pastries filled my nostrils.

"Hey, Elly!"

When Marie shouted my name, I arched an eyebrow. "What's up?" I asked while I walked around the doorframe. "Are you cleaning up?" I questioned as Marie and Dylan stood at the register.

"We were just about to—oh, and some guy came in asking for bandages," Dylan stated as he opened the register drawer.

"And did you give him any?" I blinked.

"We're supposed to...?" Marie murmured to Dylan.

They couldn't be serious. It seemed like a joke. There was no way they were serious about it. I opened and then closed my mouth. I rubbed my brow. "Are you kidding—where did he go?!?"

Both of them shrugged their shoulders. "Not sure, he left," Dylan responded.

This was unbelievable to me. To their surprise, I ran back to my office. I grabbed my bag from the floor, knowing it contained bandages and ointments.

I gathered everything I could and began my trip from the back. "Elyana, where are you going?!" Marie called as I passed past them.

"The three of us will have a long conversation after this!" I yelled back at them as I exited the bakery.

'God, I train them well, and they're stubborn.' In my head, I hissed, 'The shit I do.'

Shibuya's night air felt a little cool. There is a slight trace of warmth, but not much. I could hear the sound of people walking and talking in the street below. The lights from the neon signs gave the night an ethereal feeling. People leaving work at 9 p.m. were the only ones awake at this hour. I was looking forward to getting into my own bed. I looked around and saw no one on the walkways that appeared to be injured.

"Dammit." After a few steps away from the business, I heard a loud hiss coming from the alleyway. I slowly approached the alleyway, my heart pounding.

"Can you please be gentle!?" With a lot of fury, a deep yet...monotonous voice exclaimed.

"Well, this is what happens when you have pie-in-the-sky ideas." The next speaker lectured whoever appeared to have been in a fight. "I told you to stay back, but you did the exact opposite."

It wasn't that offering aid was a problem. The challenge I had was actually doing so, but you what they say. Curiosity killed the cat. As I approached the brick wall and stood there, someone began to speak. "How are we going to deal with Toman? Those shitheads won't let it go." This person was on the opposite side of the wall from where I was standing.

"I say we kill'em."

Did I want to spy on them since it was obvious they were in some sort of gang? No. Was it actually impossible? Yes.

"We can't kill them. They have it coming. We have to wait for Mikey to give the word, and we will plan a sneak attack."

Oh, real classic. I rolled my eyes.

My whole body froze as I tightened the things in my arms in response to the abrupt voice directed at me. "We know you're out there."

I took a deep breath before I emerged from the shadowy area and walked beneath the illuminated region beneath the street light.
