The door was pushed open, and Luna, our beta, stood in the doorway.

There was a quick exchange between Luna and Lupa. Wolf is my second language, my first being Roman, of course. Roman was Lupa's second language (her first is wolf, and her third is English. Lupa taught me English and used it when I was young, but she mostly speaks in Roman now). The conversation went something like this:

Luna-Everything is ready.

Lupa-Then it is time. Gather the pack

Well, that's how it would be translated. Anyways. Luna left, and Lupa turned back to me.

"Come with me, pup. It is time to say your goodbyes," Lupa held her tail up high and walked out the door with me trailing after her.

When we turned the corner to the final hall, I almost gasped. The hallway was lined with every wolf in the pack. All the wolves were crouching, and their tails were tucked between their legs—a sign of respect among wolves. Words could not express how I felt then, to be seen as higher than all the wolves (par Lupa and Luna). Up until this point, I have been held as an equal. I kept a stone face as I walked behind Lupa.

We walked until we reached the east woods, where Luna handed me my bag. Lupa turned to me.

"You have your belongings?" She asked. I nodded. Lupa stomped one paw, and Luna came forward, holding a paper in her mouth. She signaled for me to take it from her.

"This is a map, enchanted. It can never be destroyed or ruined. The orange symbol is your destination, and the blue is you. The dot will appear wherever you are so you can never get truly lost. On your journey, you will receive help from many gods. Or, that is what your mother said. She would be here if she could, but, you know the rules. She will be watching you the entire time, offering aid when she can. Your mother loves you more than anything else in this world, except for her husband. Whether that is a good thing can only be determined by time. On your journey, you will face many monsters, all of which you are prepared for. I have trained you well. You will accomplish many things Elizabeth, I can see that. Once you step into those woods, you will not return for many years. You are ready." That was the most emotional thing I had ever heard Lupa say. I swung my satchel over my shoulder. It was heavier than normal. Luna must have added some stuff. I tucked the map in my pocket, deciding to look at it later. Taking a deep breath, I turned to face the trees.

"Goodbye," That was all I said before stepping out of the protective barrier the Wolf House provided.
