Riddle was panicking. Sebek, the one who Lilia had warned them about, had caught him. He angrily hammered his fists on the giant's hand, squirming and trembling and struggling to break free.
"LET ME GO YOU BRUTE!!" Riddle shouted at the top of his lungs. "I WILL NOT TOLERATE YOUR HANDLING OF ME!"
"SHUT UP!!" Sebek yelled. Riddle had to cover his ears from his voice volume. The giant brought the human up to eye level and glared daggers at him. "You are my prisoner now. My Young Master will deal with you PERSONALLY you INTRUDER!"
"I-I am NOT an intruder! I found this place on accident! Please, just listen to me!" Riddle protested.
Sebek dumped the human into his shirt pocket and closed the flap of it, muffling the red haired boy's pleas for mercy.
A door clicked open ahead of them. Sebek moved inside, and Riddle felt him bend over. Presumably into a bow, Riddle had assumed.
"Sebek? Whatever are you doing here?" Lilia's voice asked.
"Prince Malleus! I've come with urgent news!"
"What is it... Sebek?" A low, deep voice rumbled. Riddle could feel a shiver run down his spine as Sebek opened his pocket and roughly pulled the human boy out. Riddle could feel his body tumble out onto the ground, which felt like carpet.
"I've captured something... and it's NOT a Briarian. It's some sort of... creature!"
Riddle rolled over onto his stomach and looked upwards. His ocean blue gaze was met with sinister, emerald eyes that shined in the setting sun. A malevolent figure sat on a giant, stony throne with thorns carved inside of it. The figure had jet black hair that faded to a deep sea green, and dragon horns that protruded from his head.
"What... is that?" The figure asked.
"Speak, creature! Enlighten my Young Master!" Sebek bellowed. Riddle shakily bent down into a kneeling position and placed his head on the ground.
"Y-Your Majesty, I-I c-came here f-f-from Earth! I am a h-human, please, d-don't hurt me!" Riddle begged, trembling. Tears were forming in his eyes.
The figure on the throne, named Malleus, got up and began to walk towards them. Riddle could feel his body shake with every footstep the towering prince took.
"A human? They still exist..."
"H-huh?" Riddle asked.
"What do you mean "still", Young Master?" Sebek asked.
Malleus turned to Lilia, who looked away in anxiety and pain. The smaller of the fae cleared his throat and began to speak.
"Humans are a race as old as Briarians. However, we found out one day that Malenoa, Malleus's mother, was killed by a selfish, tyrannical prince. Which is why the former king of Briaria took our kingdom and hid us away amongst the clouds. However, not wanting to cut us off completely from the land below, he wrote a secret journal and implanted 3 magic beans in it to grow a gateway between the two worlds."
"So this boy had the journal my father wrote and used it to get to Briaria?" Malleus asked. "This is... perfect~"
"Perfect...?" Riddle repeated.
Malleus got up and pointed at Lilia. "Vanrouge. Go put our prisoner in a cage and leave him in Sebek's quarters. Sebek, you are in charge of guarding the prisoner."
"Yes, sir!" Sebek answered.
"Malleus, what do you intend to do?" Lilia asked, his eyes growing wide.
The prince turned to him, his face totally blank.
"We're going to invade Earth and get revenge for my mother."
~
Silver began to run through the halls. He was panicking horridly. Riddle's in danger! If Prince Malleus finds out about him...!
Silver couldn't lose the person he had a connection with. For once, besides his own father, he felt loved. He felt like he belonged. And now, Sebek was going to take that feeling away from him. That thought hurt him more than anything in the world.
Footsteps were coming from around the corner. Silver hid behind a large statue and listened to whoever it was.
"Master Lilia, did you know about this... human?" Sebek's voice questioned.
"What an absurd accusation," Lilia retorted.
"Have you ever seen humans before this one?" Sebek asked.
"Of course. I AM 700 years old, boy."
"Are you going to assist the Young Master on his conquest?"
Lilia hesitated, then answered, "Yes."
"I cannot wait to see you in action!" Sebek announced eagerly. "Humanity shall fall and Briaria will prevail!"
When the voices died down, Silver slipped out from his hiding spot and quietly followed the pair to Sebek's room.
~
"Sebek?" Lilia started, "be a dear and grab me a painkiller. My back feels rather stiff."
"Of course! You may leave the prisoner wherever you chose!" Sebek replied. He then bustled off to grab the medicine for Lilia. When he was gone, Riddle turned around and gripped the bars of the cage.
"L-Lilia, please... don't leave me stuck here! If your prince conquers Earth, my family, my friends, and everyone will die! You have to stop the invasion!"
"I wish I could, little one. But my prince is very adamant about keeping his country safe. He doesn't wish to risk anyone else important to him like his mother."
Riddle's face began to grow bright red from anger. "That's COWARDLY! Release me NOW and I will talk to your prince MYSELF!"
"Be quiet, human!" Lilia snapped. Riddle shut his mouth from the giant fae's stern gaze.
"Lilia-"
"If Silver comes to get you, tell him to hide you in his room. I'm sorry..."
"LILIA!!" Riddle shouted. Lilia turned and slammed the door to Sebek's room shut. Riddle fell to his knees and angrily sobbed.
This is all my fault... all because I broke the rules. I fall in love, and now they're tearing us apart! It's too much... everyone... I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of this to happen.
~
Silver could see Lilia hurrying down the hall. The starry eyed boy quickly left his hiding spot and intercepted him.
"Father!"
"AHH!" Lilia yelped, jumping. "Goodness, boy, you nearly gave me a heart attack!"
"Father, where is Riddle?" Silver asked, panicked.
"He's in Sebek's room. You should take him with you. I have to go prepare for the invasion."
"Invasion? I have yet to hear about this," Silver mumbled.
"You haven't heard? Prince Malleus is going to invade Earth."
Silver's face went blank. "B-but Father! If Prince Malleus invades Earth, then no one shall survive his invasion! Please, talk to him!"
"You know I can't do that. It would be treason. And besides, your little human spilled the beans about his home. He may as well be good as gone too."
"But Father! I love him!" Silver cried. He dropped to his knees and clenched a fist. Lilia was taken aback by these words.
"You... love him?"
Silver looked up and nodded. "I love him with my whole heart! He's my best friend, and I love him!"
Lilia bent down and hugged his son. "He really means a lot to you, huh?"
"Yes, Father. Please... don't destroy his world. He'll be so sad... and I never want that for him!"
The fae got up and sighed. "Fine. I will... do what I can. Just go get him."
Lilia left Silver and made his way down the hall. Silver wiped his nose and got up. "I'm coming... Riddle. Please be safe."
