Riddle adjusted his position on Silver's shoulder as the giant made his way to a large, wooden door. He unlocked it gently, then pushed it open. Riddle's vision adjusted to the bright sun outside. Once it finished, he was completely blown away with what he saw.
"Oh my gosh... it's beautiful!"
A gigantic garden filled with thousands of flowers and plants was behind the palace. A lattice full of flowering vines stood closer to the back, and beneath it was a bench. Cobblestone paths curved around the flower beds, a gentle mist from the clouds stirring up above it. An ancient tree with strange, golden branches and bright green leaves covered most of the garden in a cool shade.
"I come out here and pick flowers often. Father likes those ones over there." Silver pointed to a flower bed filled with pink blossoms, mixed with the occasional white flower. Riddle was impressed by all the varieties he saw. It was like something out of a fairy tale.
"This is incredible! Silver, do you- Silver?"
Riddle heard gentle snoring. Silver had seemingly dozed off. He did seem rather tired when they first met. "Oh my... how to wake up a sleeping giant? Oh, I know."
Riddle gripped a strand of Silver's hair and stood up on his shoulder, balancing himself. He then grabbed a bit of Silver's skin, then gently began pinching it. "Wake up Silver!"
Silver jolted awake. "H-Huh? What is it?" Riddle lost his balance on Silver's shoulder.
"RIDDLE!"
Riddle screamed as he fell towards the ground. Before he hit it, gentle hands caught him. Riddle stopped yelling and looked up.
"Are you ok?" Silver asked, breathing heavily. He wore a frightened look over his face. Riddle's breathing began to slow as he felt himself slowly lifting into the air.
"I-I am! Thank you, Silver. I could've died," Riddle replied.
"I know... I was scared for a second. You need to be more careful, ok?" Silver stood up, looking down at the boy. "I don't wanna lose you... you're my friend."
"I'm your friend? I've never really had many friends... Mother would never allow us to be friends if she saw you," Riddle mused.
"Your Mother... you mention her often. Are you not allowed to have friends?"
"Mother makes me study from day to night. I never have time to play. I never got to play even when I was a little boy."
"Father always lets me go outside to play. I realize that sounds childish, considering I'm 17..." Silver trailed off.
"You as well?" Riddle asked.
"We're the same age?" Silver asked. "That's cool."
"I suppose so. What do you do in your free time?" Riddle asked.
"Me? I pick flowers, follow birds around, sit at the bench, talk to my Father, read... and I'm practicing becoming a knight."
"A knight? What a noble profession. I am training to become a magical doctor. Mother says I won't get my magic until later, however."
Silver looked to the side, then back at Riddle.
"Do you... do you think I'm fit to be a knight?" Silver asked.
Riddle thought for a moment, then looked up with a smile. "Why, of course you are! You are kind, strong, and noble. You have loyalty to your prince. You treat everyone with respect. And if we're being honest, you fit the trope of being dashingly handsome."
Silver's face went bright red. "You think I'm... handsome?"
Riddle realized what he had just said. He suddenly turned away, covering his face. "Y-yes! Handsome!"
