Dinner

I hopped out, excitedly. Then I gasped. Mia was wearing a flimsy nearly transparent dress. And she put on a tiny denim jacket over as.... A form or modesty? With Mia, it was hard to tell. She was sitting on the couch, flipping through the channels on TV and the
moment she saw me she jumped up.

"Finally!!! Oh God, I thought I would end up dead on this sofa," she grumbled, putting on her Dr. Martens and grabbing a leopard-print clutch.

"I love your outfit!!!" squealed Akira as she analyzed me. She was wearing a simple knee-length black dress with sky blue wedges. She had on a smoky eye makeup.

"Please, look at yourself," I said, blushing as I checked out my dress too. Both of us went out and joined Mia in the buggy.

The ride was pretty awkward. The other boys on the buggy were wolf-whistling at her and chatting with her. She smiled and started twirling her hair around, pulling her dress up a little higher. I rolled my eyes and looked at Akira. She looked a bit upset.

"Oh come on, Akira. Don't tell me you actually enjoy attention?" I joked, elbowing her.

She immediately looked the other way, making me feel bad.

"Ok, fine, sorry! Was just joking. Sheesh. Didn't need to get emotional," I replied.

"No, it's just that that guy who's getting close with Mia right now was my boyfriend. He was the one who gave me the couple ring and claimed that he hit the jackpot the day he met me," she sniffed.

"Oh please, are you serious? That is so cheesy," I laughed. Akira smiled.

Luckily, we reached what seemed like a fancy Italian restaurant. I stepped out, brushing down my dress.

Mia, Akira and I went to the front door. Beside it, was a teacher with a clipboard.

"Dorm?" he asked.

"B-25. I am Mia Lanners, she is Jessica Arana and she is Akira Maki," smiled Mia. The teacher smiled back and opened the doors, letting us in. It truly was very beautiful. It was buzzing with many people who looked like models. I felt like a Hollywood star.

"Come on, Jess. I wanna show you somebody," grinned Akira, dragging me along with her.

She seemed to wander around aimlessly, looking for a certain someone. Just then, she released my grip and ran to this guy. She launched onto his back and he jumped and turned around. He laughed when he saw Akira.

I awkwardly shuffled forward. Great, this must be her new boyfriend. Guess I am gonna be the third wheel.

"Jess, meet Alex. Alex, meet Jess," introduced Akira.

"Hi, nice to meet you," I smiled, offering my hand. He grinned at me then pulled me into a headlock.

"Nice to meet you too, oh young one," he grinned. I attempted to struggle free but he continued laughing, not letting go.

"Hey, stop it, Al, you are choking her," snapped Akira, pulling me away.

"Jeez, Rara, I was trying to bond with my new BFF... Uh, what was your name again?" he asked.

"Jessica," I responded.

"Ah, yes, Jessie-J. My official BFF. You're fired, Rara," he grinned.

"My grandmother calls me Rara," complained Akira, " Anyway, let's look at the menu."

I excitedly looked at the menu. Wow. These food are like food that I thought I would never have. Yay!!! No more Subway or McDonald's anymore. This is the real food.

After ordering Italian meatball marinara and a coconut lavender lemonade, I turned to both of them.

"Wait, so both of you are not dating?" I asked.

"Sorry but Akira is a bit..." Alex smiled, showing a thumbs down. Akira glared at him. He laughed and wrapped his arms around her. They launched into a mini cat fight.

To be honest, I felt a bit jealous. I never had a friendship that lasted that long. I wasn't a social outcast but I wasn't the Queen Bee either. I was like the third wheel in every single friendship. I had one friend who I was pretty close to but since the new year started, she kind of... Brushed me off in a 'nice' way.

I observed Alex closely. He was quite cute. He was really tall and had messy black hair. Maybe... Just not my type.

"So, Jessie-J!!! Later, let's have an eating competition. Ok? If I win, I can ask you to do anything, and vice versa," he grinned.

"It's on," I grinned wickedly, clapping my hands together.
