KISSbump?!

This is just a filler chapter, in preparation for the big picture. This is just how Alex and Jessica get close to each other.

"So this whole building is specially for the mystery?" I asked curiously as I pressed the doorbell. A haunting noise flooded the whole house.

"Yep. I picked the "The Terrible Castle of Baron Castaign" one. It sounded quite interesting," commented Alex as we waited for somebody to open the door.

"Coming!" came a sweet pleasant voice. The front door opened to reveal a blonde woman who was wearing a simple navy green dress with a satin bow at the back. Her hair was tied up on a messy bun and she was wearing some plimsolls with a watch.

"Why hello there. Are you Mr.Archer?" she asked while smiling.

"Yes, and this is my date, Jessica Arana. She's quite excited," grinned Alex, putting an arm around my shoulder. My heart started fluttering at the word 'date'. Omg, I am like those typical teen girls in books.

"Hi, I am Mrs Nara. I am the hostess of the party. Please come in and feel free to mingle," said Mrs. Nara while handing us our character sheet and nametag. I, apparently was a gypsy girl called Esmerelda.

"Who are you supposed to be?" I asked curiously, leaning forward to look at his nametag.

"I am supposed to be a peasant named Desmond Othas," he replied.

"Now, guests, here are your costumes. Please change into them in the lavatories," Mrs. Nara said, gently handing me a paperbag. I took it and entered the toilet.

There was a gypsy dress that was grey with bright coloured streaks across it. I had simple grey shoes with black socks. I came out, saw Alex and laughed.

Alex was dressed in rags and was wielding an 'axe'.

"Hey, it's my character, ok? Don't laugh," he mumbled, scratching the back of his head. We proceeded to join the other actors, who were milling around and chatting.

Just then, Mrs. Nara cleared her throat. Everybody listened up.

"Ok, everybody, please settle down.
There is a thunderstorm. All of you guys decided to come to the castle of Baron Castaign, deciding to spend the night here..."

"Hey, I didn't know you were that smart... Besides the part where you were so confident it was a trap and led us away from the the key, you did pretty well," Alex said as we went back into the car.

"Don't underestimate me, ok? I had straight As all the time," I bragged proudly.

"Good, I like girls with big brains," smiled Alex, "now, what do you suggest we do? The night is still young."

"Hmmmm... I think I know," I smirked.

We walked out of the karaoke, laughing our heads off.

"Your Elvis imitation is truly remarkable," I commented, while entering the car again.

"Glad to know that. We only have a while left before curfew so we should better head back. Unfortunately, I am not the bad boy all the chicks dig so no skipping curfew for me," mumbled Alex.

"Well, works for me too," I smiled.

We headed back to the dormitories. Everything was silent except for some drunk kids hanging around. After a while, we reached my room.

"So... This is the part where I am supposed to kiss you and we both sleep with sweet dreams," said Alex seriously. My body grew all warm but then a tiny voice appeared in me. This is just the first date, surely I don't want to waste my first kiss on that...? I stepped back. To my surprise, Alex kissed his fist and held it for a fistbump. I bumped his hand. He ruffled my hair and skipped away. I stood there for a while, dumbfounded.

After a while, I heard Mia's giggle from the corridor. It sounded faked.

"Next time, the underwater bistro," she grinned, twirling her hair.

I quickly slipped in before she noticed me.

Inside, I saw Akira applying mascara on her damaged eye.

"Oh, Jess!!! You're back!!! Finally, how was it? How was it?" asked Akira, concentrating on the tiny compact mirror on the table.

"Are you going clubbing?" I asked.

"Gosh, no, what makes you think so?" she asked back, putting down her mascara,"if you think it's because of my mascara, well, I was just experimenting. I like to experiment on my makeup. During school days, you will see my sunset inspired eye makeup. I don't bother on the weekends. Too lazy. Kind of ironic. Anyway, enough about me. Spill me every single detail. Now. "

"Well," I started, removing my sneakers," Alex rented a Bentley..."
