There are Two Kinds of Stupid: Wisely Stupid and Stupidly Stupid

I fainted as soon as my feet hit the grassy earth. Piper shook me back to consciousness.

"You're smoking slightly..." She trailed off, looking at my face for any detectable strong emotion.

Elise eyed me with a medic's eye. "Sam, a couple days of rest, in your own bed."

Annabeth gave me a square of ambrosia and Percy and Jason helped her carry me to my cabin, since I was pretty much dead on my feet.

"Rest." Elise ordered as she gave me some nectar. I took a sip, then closed my eyes.

I dreamt that I was in Chaos' throne room, standing next to Alpha in all his battle armor.

"Your Chaosness, is it a smart idea to do this? You never know when he'll grow strong enough to take over." Alpha said, his blue eyes filled with worry and concern.

Chaos turned his determined gaze from the shadowy End in his hand to Luke. "I am the creator of the universe. If he ever tried to control me, Samara will unleash her full power to stop him, and he will not stand a chance. I got to keep the balance."

Luke sighed. "Go ahead. Mara's not gonna like it though."

Chaos chuckled. "But you'll be the one to deal with her anger then."

Alpha rolled his eyes, but then watched with worried interest as Chaos chanted a couple words in Greek. As I watched, the shadow left of End slithered from his hands into his nose and mouth. I shivered in disgust. My father really shouldn't have done that, but it was the safest option. The wisest one.

Luke hesitated before asking Chaos the question that was in my mind. "Can you for sure control him?"

Chaos breathed in a deep breath. "Yes. He is subdued, but is still trying to use his sweet-tongued trickery."

Luke turned and stared straight at me. "Mara is going to have a fit."

But his voice sounded like Percy's....

I woke up to a pair of sea-green and a pair of turquoise eyes staring at me. "What?" I tried to demand, but my voice came out as a croak.

Elise checked my pulse. "She certainly is, once she finds out about the new camper."

"Elise, she's awake." Percy noticed.

Elise shrugged. "I know. How're you feeling?"

"Like I've been run over by a stampede of pegasi." I answered.

"At least she doesn't have the fever anymore." Percy remarked.

I raised an eyebrow. "How long was I out?"

Elise didn't look me in the eye. "Two weeks." She mumbled.

I shot out of bed. "Two weeks?!"

Percy smirked. "Wait until you meet my new half-brother."

I looked at him. "Who tricked us now? Ouranos? Gaea? Tartarus?"

Percy shook his head. "No. This time he's legitimately my half-brother."

I shook my head. "Not until I check."

I ran to the Poseidon cabin, and was greeted with the sight of a shirtless 13-year-old.

"Who are you?" We demanded at the same time.

The guy puffed out his chest cockily. "I'm Parker, and you're in MY cabin."

I crossed my arms, and switched to aura-vision. "You really are a son of Poseidon, aren't you?" I scowled as I saw the trident armor glittering around the new guy.

He nodded. "Why would you doubt what the greatest hero in camp says?"

I busted a gut. "You-you think you're-that you're the gr-greatest hero?" I managed to choke out between my laughs.

Parker frowned. "Because I am."

I was still laughing as I left Cabin Three. "You wish." I called out behind me.

Elise rolled her eyes from outside my cabin. "Another newbie you don't like. This is going to be interesting."

I snickered. "He doesn't know what he signed up for."

The only good thing Parker seemed to almost be as good as Percy was with horses, except for Blackjack, Percy's steed. Percy thought it was hilarious when Blackjack bit Parker on his hand and Parker ran, screaming that he had rabies now, out of the stables.

I, of course, tormented him so much that he eventually learned to have a respect for the demigod veterans. First was the glitter glue and feathers, then his missing hair gel (it smelled awful, like a Hecate camper's potion), then the frogs. That one was funny. Who knew a son of Poseidon was afraid of a water dwelling animal?

I relaxed after teaching him that important life lesson. Elise found me on the beach of Long Island Sound, sitting peacefully, playing absently with the sand.

"Hey Sam." She sat next to me.

"Hi." I smiled, remembering the first time we met. Elise hated me, since I lied so much.

"What are you thinking about?"

I sighed. "Just how things have changed so much since the first time I came."

Elise nodded. "Very much so. You know, I think it's hard for heroes to get a break."

I held out my hand toward the water, controlling it into a ribbon of silver that floated over to me. "I wonder how my father is doing, ever since he took End into his own form."

She looked at me with shocked, wide eyes. "Chaos did what?!" She said loudly.

I closed my eyes and showed her the dream I had before I woke up from my two week nap.

Elise gasped with the new information. "And how do you feel about all this?"

"I hate it, but I understand why."

She frowned. "Do you hear that?"

We were silent. Then I heard a breath, then another. Someone was watching us. I sighed. "Really, Parker? Do you need frogs in your bed again?"

I made a grabbing motion towards the bushes behind us, and out came Parker, the newbie.

Elise stood over him with a furious expression. "I hate being spied on."

He met her glare timidly.

"And do you know what happens when I find out I've been spied on?"

He shook his head slightly.

Out came Elise's bow and arrows. Parker's eyes grew as wide as saucers. "Don't shoot." He whimpered.

I smirked, and knelt down next to him. "I wouldn't make her mad if I were you. The kid that broke her viola didn't come out of the infirmary for weeks." I whispered in his ear.

Parker stayed exactly where he was, frozen in fear of two girls. All of a sudden, water burst upward in geysers all around us, then stopped as Percy emerged from around a boulder nearby, laughing his butt off. "That's for waking me up too early yesterday morning."

Elise and I started laughing. "Awesome dare." I complimented.

Percy nodded. "Thanks. Now you, little bro, are coming with me."

Parker followed Percy, giving my best friend and I a fearful glance over his shoulder. Let's just say he never bothered us again.
