Chapter 16

"According to Koyori, their house should be on this street." Lui said.
"Thanks Lui." Chloe replied.
"Sure you want to do this?" Lui asked.
"I have to Lui, it may be my last chance, I want to truly know who they are." Chloe told her.
"Alright... well, good luck."
Chloe looked back and gave Lui a quick nod before hurrying off to Noel and Flare's house.

She stood in front of their door for a moment before taking a deep breath and knocking.
She could feel her heart racing as the seconds ticked by, her mind filled with hundreds of 'what if' questions.
after a few moments that felt like an eternity, Flare opened the door, greeting Chloe with a look of confusion.
To her, this was a masked and hooded stranger knocking at her and Noel's door, red flags were already present in her mind.
"Can...I help you?" she asked hesitantly.
"I, um, my name is Chloe, I..." She suddenly found it hard to find the right words.
"Are you lost?" Flare asked.
"No, sorry, I... are you Flare Shiranui?"
"...Yes?" Flare replied, her brow furrowing.
"And... does Noel Shirogane live here too?"
"...Look, we don't want any trouble..." Flare warned.
"No, wait... I know it must look strange, but please listen to me. I need to speak to both of you about something very important!" Chloe begged.
Before Flare could respond another voice rang through the air.
"Flare? Who's at the door?" Noel called from inside the house.
"I...um, she said her name is Chloe, she says she needs to talk to us." Flare answered.

Noel walked to the front door of their house, getting her first look at the girl.
"I'm not here to hurt you or anything like that, I swear, I just need to talk." Chloe insisted.
Noel and Flare exchanged looks before Flare finally spoke.
"Alright, come in." She conceded, stepping aside.
"Thank you," Chloe smiled gratefully as she stepped past her and into the living room.
"So, what's this about?" Noel asked, closing the door behind her as she joined Flare and Chloe.
"I'll... keep this quick." Chloe began.
"You probably won't believe me but... my name is Chloe Sakamata, and I'm... I'm your daughter."
Noel and Flare simply stared at Chloe with blank expressions.
"Come again?" Flare asked slowly.
"I... am your daughter, you and Noel."
"That's..." Noel was unable to speak.
"Actually impossible." Flare finished.
"Like, we're physically not capable of having a child." she added.
"I know, look, this is totally unbelievable, but I was created in a lab with 40% of each of your DNA." Chloe informed her.
Flare began to chuckle, "You're kidding right?"
Chloe sighed, "I understand if you don't believe me, I wouldn't either, at least let me offer you the only proof I have." Chloe removed her mask and hood, giving Flare and Noel a clear view of her face,
Both Flare and Noel stared in shock.

Chloe's eyes were the exact same color as Flare's, her skin was smooth and pale just like Noel's, and her hair that had been previously tucked under her hood was the same silvery gray as Noel's as well.
Noel approached Chloe and stooped down slightly to look her directly in the face, "...She has your eyes Flare..." Noel said softly.
"This is crazy..." Flare muttered, "How... how are you real?"
"Don't really know, honestly." Chloe replied, gently pushing past Noel.
"But I did what I came here to do, whether or not you believe me you probably won't see me again."
As Chloe headed to the door, Noel put her hand on the girl's shoulder, "Wait, what do you mean we won't see you again?"
"I'm sure you know of The Council by now, I'm going to be one of the one's trying to stop them... even if it ends badly, you know I existed." Chloe stated as she went to leave again.
"Not so fast." Flare stopped her this time.
Chloe looked her straight in the eyes and in that moment, Flare felt something in her heart, a feeling she couldn't really define.
"...We're coming with you." she said.
"What?" Chloe's eyes widened.
"You heard me, we're coming with you, right Noel?" she turned to her wife.
Noel nodded.
"We're going to protect you Chloe, as crazy as this is... I look at you and I feel... a connection." Flare admitted.
Chloe glanced between them for several long moments, her mouth hanging open slightly.
"Ok... but can you promise me something?" Chloe asked.
"Yes?" Flare replied.
"If... when all this is over... can we be a family?"
