"Sorcery is not the only way," Wol whispered, hinting at something profound as she stood before the entrance to her palace. Yul, perplexed, took hold of her wrist, preventing her from stepping inside. "You cannot just leave after saying that. What do you mean?" he asked, his eyes narrowing in confusion.

Wol tilted her head, as if to peer into Yul's thoughts, and queried, "I was going to tell you but, Must you leave so soon?" She sensed his unease and sought to quell it. Yul's apprehension was palpable, fearing the potential encounter with Wol's brother, a person he held little fondness for. "Your brother-"

With feigned oblivion, Wol inquired, "And what about him? Who is he, exactly?" She desired Yul's honest opinion, but knew that it was difficult for him to express his thoughts.

"He doesn't like me so much, Wol," Yul admitted, shuffling his feet in discomfort. "I do not wish to impose."

Wol reached out and grasped Yul's arm, her touch warm and reassuring. "He doesn't like me very much, either. However, we both live within the same palace walls. I need to see his treacherous and ugly face everyday. You do not need to feel like a trespasser."

Despite her attempts to comfort him, Yul remained tense, his expression creased with worry. Wol paused, studying him intently. She discerned his reluctance and gave him an out, saying, "If it makes you uneasy, you may leave. I do not wish to force you."

Yul nodded, and Wol walked backwards into her palace, her smile gentle and gracious. "Until tomorrow, then?" she called out, the doors closing behind her. Yul, momentarily stunned, regained his composure and replied, "Yes, until tomorrow."

-

Seated at her chambers' table, Wol was lost in contemplation, her thoughts consumed by the revelation that had struck her. Mudeok, the trusted maid of Jang Uk, was not who she appeared to be. She probably got a hold of the book during the chaos in Songrim. The red book had mentioned to weaken oneself to the point of needing to open the gate of energy as a means of self-preservation. And Wol had witnessed Mudeok execute this perilous technique with apparent ease, revealing her true identity as an accomplished smart-ass. There was no way Jang Uk would drink poison to open his gate. He was too scared of death for that.

The gravity of this discovery weighed heavily on Wol's mind, and she found herself immersed in deep reflection. The candlelight flickered and danced around her, casting ethereal shadows on the walls. The night drew on, but her meditative state persisted, her mind a labyrinth of uncertainty and doubt. Uk probably knew that Mudeok was Naksu. And with this information against her, she agreed to help open his gate of energy. This realization didn't surprise Wol.

Eventually, with resolute determination, Wol rose from her seat, acknowledging the perilous situation that now lay before her. She knew that Mudeok posed a grave threat to her family, and she must take steps to protect them, no matter the cost. As she strode towards the door, her gaze fixed on an uncertain future, she was determined to confront Mudeok and safeguard all that she held dear, especially Uk, Yul, Choyeon, Danggu, Suncheol and her brother, who she despised. She would rather let him die but her mother would be too devastated to see that happen.

-

Wol wandered the aisles of the Songrim library, perusing the tomes in search of any mention of her mother. She was always fascinated by the incredible skills possessed by her loyal and powerful mother, a mage who had once graced the land of Daeho with her presence. Yet, this fascination also weighed heavily on Wol's shoulders, as she felt the need to live up to her mother's remarkable legacy.

As she turned a corner, she came upon Jang Uk, Danggu, and Mudeok, or was it Naksu? Her eyes narrowed as she studied the young woman, suspicious of her intentions despite the seeming innocence of her actions.

"I swear, I wasn't bullying her," Uk spoke, addressing Danggu, while Wol kept a watchful eye on Mudeok. Though the girl didn't appear to be up to any mischief, Wol remained wary of her.

"Are you the one bullying him then?" Wol inquired, directing her gaze toward Mudeok. Though Uk laughed at the question, Mudeok remained silent, prompting a smirk from Wol as she draped her arm around Danggu's shoulders.

"Wol, good to see you," Uk greeted her.

Mudeok brought a hand to her forehead, feigning injury as she stepped back. Danggu stood beside her, offering a sympathetic ear. "Poor girl. We thought you'd be nicer for at least a few days," Danggu teased. Wol watched with amusement as Danggu and Mudeok bickered about Uk's demanding behavior.

"You have to take care of him and entertain him when he's bored," Danggu continued, laying on the guilt trip.

Wol couldn't help but feel that something was afoot. "If something's hot, he'll want it cold. If it's cold, he'll demand it hot," Mudeok chimed in, her facade crumbling under Wol's scrutiny.

As the trio continued to trade barbs, Wol couldn't help but laugh at their childishness. "He gets angry if we don't help him, but when we do, he says we're treating him like a child. What a weirdo," she said, playfully slapping Uk's forehead in disgust.

"But why are you both here and not at Sejukwon?" Danggu asked, her curiosity piqued.

Uk hesitated before answering, "We're here to see Yul. Mudeok wanted to see him."

Wol's gut churned at the thought of Naksu being in the library, surrounded by those she cared for. "If you want to see Yul, go find him. What are you doing here?" she asked, gesturing toward the young man who had gone unnoticed until now.

Mudeok cleared her throat before Uk finally spoke, "She was spying on him."

Wol couldn't resist the urge to tease. "Oh, Mudeokie, do you fancy Yul?" she asked with a smirk.

As their eyes met, Wol and Mudeok both knew the truth. Wol knew that Mudeok was not who she claimed to be, and Mudeok knew that Wol had uncovered her true identity. Wol knew, that Mudeok knew, that she knew.

Wol knew, that Mudeok knew, that she knew
